I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.

Ephraim surrounds Me with liesAnd the house of Israel with deceit;Judah is also unruly against God,Even against the Holy One who is faithful.

I [am] Yahweh your God since the land of Egypt; you know no god except me, and no one saves besides me.

No one brings grain offerings or drink offerings to the temple of the Lord anymore. So the priests, those who serve the Lord, are in mourning.

Get dressed and lament, you priests! Wail, you who minister at the altar! Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you servants of my God, because no one brings grain offerings or drink offerings to the temple of your God anymore.

A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.

They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

And Yahweh {utters} his voice before his army, because his encampment [is] very large; strong [is the] one who carries out his decree, for great [is] the day of Yahweh and exceedingly fearful. Who can endure it?

I will remove the one from the north far from you. I will drive him out to a dry and desolate place. Those in front will be driven eastward into the Dead Sea, and those in back westward into the Mediterranean Sea. His stench will rise up as a foul smell." Indeed, the Lord has accomplished great things.

You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Yahweh, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never again be disappointed.

And it hath come to pass, Every one who calleth in the name of Jehovah is delivered, For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there is an escape, As Jehovah hath said, And among the remnants whom Jehovah is calling!

But Judah will reside securely forever, and Jerusalem will be secure from one generation to the next.

I will break down the gates of Damascus.I will cut off the ruler from the Valley of Aven,and the one who wields the scepter from Beth-eden.The people of Aram will be exiled to Kir.The Lord has spoken.

I will cut off the ruler from Ashdod,and the one who wields the scepter from Ashkelon.I will also turn My hand against Ekron,and the remainder of the Philistines will perish.The Lord God has spoken.

See, I am crushing you down, as one is crushed under a cart full of grain.

Escape will fail the swift,the strong one will not prevail by his strength,and the brave will not save his life.

The archer will not stand his ground,the one who is swift of footwill not save himself,and the one riding a horse will not save his life.

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

Therefore, thus says the Lord God,“An enemy, even one surrounding the land,Will pull down your strength from youAnd your citadels will be looted.”

"Listen to this message, you fat cows from Bashan, who live on the Samaritan mountains, who oppress the poor, who rob the needy, and who constantly ask your husbands for one more drink!"

The Lord God has sworn by His holiness:Look, the days are comingwhen you will be taken away with hooks,every last one of you with fishhooks.

and ye shall go out by the breaches, every one straight before her, and ye shall be cast out to Harmon, saith Jehovah.

And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

He is here:the One who forms the mountains,creates the wind,and reveals His thoughts to man,the One who makes the dawn out of darknessand strides on the heights of the earth.Yahweh, the God of Hosts, is His name.

She has fallen;Virgin Israel will never rise again.She lies abandoned on her land,with no one to raise her up.

For the Lord God says:The city that marches out a thousand strongwill have only a hundred left,and the one that marches out a hundred strongwill have only ten left in the house of Israel.

Seek Yahweh and live,or He will spread like firethroughout the house of Joseph;it will consume everything,with no one at Bethel to extinguish it.

The One who made the Pleiades and Orion,who turns darkness into dawnand darkens day into night,who summons the waters of the seaand pours them out over the face of the earth—Yahweh is His name.

He showed me this: I saw the sovereign One standing by a tin wall holding tin in his hand.

The Lord said to me, "What do you see, Amos?" I said, "Tin." The sovereign One then said, "Look, I am about to place tin among my people Israel. I will no longer overlook their sin.

And Amos answered and said to Amaziah, "I am not a prophet and I [am] not a son of a prophet, but I [am] a herdsman and I am one taking care of sycamore trees.

Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

And have turned your festivals to mourning, And all your songs to lamentation, And caused sackcloth to come up on all loins, And on every head -- baldness, And made it as a mourning of an only one, And its latter end as a day of bitterness.

“People shall stagger from sea to sea [to the very ends of the earth]And from the north even to the east;They will roam here and there to seek the word of the Lord [longing for it as essential for life],But they will not find it.

These are the ones who now take oaths in the name of the sinful idol goddess of Samaria. They vow, 'As surely as your god lives, O Dan,' or 'As surely as your beloved one lives, O Beer Sheba!' But they will fall down and not get up again."

I saw the Lord standing beside the altar: and he said, Smite the capitals, that the thresholds may shake; and break them in pieces on the head of all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: there shall not one of them flee away, and there shall not one of them escape.

The Lord God of hosts,The One who touches the land so that it melts,And all those who dwell in it mourn,And all of it rises up like the NileAnd subsides like the Nile of Egypt;

The One who builds His upper chambers in the heavensAnd has founded His vaulted dome over the earth,He who calls for the waters of the seaAnd pours them out on the face of the earth,The Lord is His name.

for I am about to give the command,and I will shake the house of Israelamong all the nations,as one shakes a sieve,but not a pebble will fall to the ground.

Hear this! The days are coming—this is the Lord’s declaration—when the plowman will overtake the reaperand the one who treads grapes,the sower of seed.The mountains will drip with sweet wine,and all the hills will flow with it.

Should I not be even more concerned about Nineveh, this enormous city? There are more than one hundred twenty thousand people in it who do not know right from wrong, as well as many animals!"

All her idols shall be broken in pieces,All her earnings [from her idolatry] shall be burned with fire,And all her images I shall make desolate;For from the earnings of a prostitute she collected them,And to the earnings of a prostitute they shall return.

Pass over for thee, O inhabitant of Shaphir, Naked one of shame. Not gone out hath the inhabitant of Zaanan, The lamentation of Beth-Ezel doth take from you its standing.

For the one living in Maroth is waiting for good: for evil has come down from the Lord to the doorways of Jerusalem.

Moreover, I will bring on youThe one who takes possession,O inhabitant of Mareshah.The glory of Israel will enter Adullam.

“The women of My people you evict,Each one from her pleasant house.From her children you take My splendor forever.

If one is going with the wind, And with falsehood hath lied: 'I prophesy to thee of wine, and of strong drink,' He hath been the prophet of this people!

One who breaks open the waywill advance before them;they will break out, pass through the gate,and leave by it.Their King will pass through before them,the Lord as their leader.

This is what the Lord saysconcerning the prophetswho lead my people astray,who proclaim peacewhen they have food to sink their teeth intobut declare war against the onewho puts nothing in their mouths.

Those who see visions will be put to shame, and the diviners will be disgraced every one of them they will cover their faces, because there will be no answer from God.'"

And he will be judge between great peoples, and strong nations far away will be ruled by his decisions; their swords will be hammered into plough-blades and their spears into vine-knives: nations will no longer be lifting up their swords against one another, and knowledge of war will have gone for ever.

But each man will sit under his grapevineand under his fig treewith no one to frighten him.For the mouth of the Lord of Hostshas promised this.

For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.

In that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah, I do gather the halting one, And the driven away one I bring together, And she whom I have afflicted.

And I will make the one who limps a remnant, and the one driven far away a strong nation, and Yahweh will reign over them on Mount Zion from now to forever.

And this one hath been peace, Asshur! when he doth come into our land, And when he doth tread in our palaces, We have raised against him seven shepherds, And eight anointed of man.

The survivors of Jacob will live among many nations, as dew from the LORD, as showers upon the grass. They will look to no one, and will place no hope in human beings.

Then the remnant of Jacobwill be among the nations, among many peoples,like a lion among animals of the forest,like a young lion among flocks of sheep,which tramples and tears as it passes through,and there is no one to rescue them.

The voice of Yahweh calls out to the city(and it is wise to fear Your name):“Pay attention to the rodand the One who ordained it.

How sad for me!For I am like one who—when the summer fruit has been gatheredafter the gleaning of the grape harvest—finds no grape cluster to eat,no early fig, which I crave.

Godly people have vanished from the land;there is no one upright among the people.All of them wait in ambush to shed blood;they hunt each other with a net.

Their best one is as a brier, The upright one -- than a thorn-hedge, The day of thy watchmen -- Thy visitation -- hath come. Now is their perplexity.

Then my enemy will see,and she will be covered with shame,the one who said to me,“Where is the Lord your God?”My eyes will look at her in triumph;at that time she will be trampledlike mud in the streets.

Shepherd your people with your shepherd's rod, the flock that belongs to you, the one that lives alone in a thicket, in the midst of a pastureland. Allow them to graze in Bashan and Gilead, as they did in the old days.

No one can withstand his indignation! No one can resist his fierce anger! His wrath is poured out like volcanic fire, boulders are broken up as he approaches.

There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counseller.

Look to the mountains—the feet of one bringing good newsand proclaiming peace!Celebrate your festivals, Judah;fulfill your vows.For the wicked one will never againmarch through you;he will be entirely wiped out.

One who scatters is coming up against you.Man the fortifications!Watch the road!Brace yourself!Summon all your strength!

The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.

Nineveh has been like a pool of waterfrom her first days,but they are fleeing.“Stop! Stop!” they cry,but no one turns back.

Plunder the silver! Plunder the gold! There is no end to the spoils, an abundance of {everything one could want}!

Where now is the den of the lions, the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, lioness, and lion cub once prowled and no one disturbed them?

All because of the many harlotries of the harlot,The charming one, the mistress of sorceries,Who sells nations by her harlotriesAnd families by her sorceries.
