6 We sinned with our fathers, we acted perversely, we did evil.

6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

6 (J)We have sinned (g)(K)like our fathers,We have committed iniquity, we have behaved wickedly.

6 Both we and our fathers have sinned;we have done wrong and have acted wickedly.(F)

6 We have sinned, along with our ancestors; we have committed iniquity and wickedness.

7 Our fathers considered not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; they embittered at the sea, the sea of sedge;

7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

7 Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your (h)wonders; They (L)did not remember (i)Your abundant kindnesses,But (M)rebelled by the sea, at the (j)Red Sea.

7 Our fathers in Egypt did not graspthe significance of Your wonderful worksor remember Your many acts of faithful love;instead, they rebelled by the sea—the Red Sea.(G)

7 In Egypt, our ancestors neither comprehended your awesome deeds nor remembered your abundant gracious love. Instead, they rebelled beside the sea, the Reed Sea.

8 And he will save them for sake of his name, to make known his powers.

8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

8 Nevertheless He saved them (N)for the sake of His name,That He might (O)make His power known.

8 Yet He saved them because of His name,to make His power known.(H)

8 He delivered for the sake of his name, to make his power known.

9 And he will rebuke in the sea of sedge, and it will be dried up: and he will lead them in the depths as the desert

9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

9 Thus He (P)rebuked the (k)Red Sea and it (Q)dried up,And He (R)led them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.

9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up;He led them through the depths as through a desert.(I)

9 He shouted at the Reed Sea and it dried up; and led them through the sea as though through a desert.

10 And he will save them from the hand of him hating, and he will redeem them from the hand of the enemy.

10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

10 So He (S)saved them from the (l)hand of the one who hated them,And (T)redeemed them from the (m)hand of the enemy.

10 He saved them from the hand of the adversary; He redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.(J)

10 He delivered them from the power of their foe; redeeming them from the power of their enemy.

11 And the waters will cover their enemies: one of them was not left

11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

11 (U)The waters covered their adversaries; Not one of them was left.

11 Water covered their foes;not one of them remained.(K)

11 The water overwhelmed their enemies, so that not one of them survived.

12 And they will believe in his words, they will sing his praise.

12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

12 Then they (V)believed His words;They (W)sang His praise.

12 Then they believed His promisesand sang His praise.(L)

12 Then they believed his word and sung his praise.

13 They hastened; they forget his works; they waited not for his counsel.

13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

13 They quickly (X)forgot His works; They (Y)did not wait for His counsel,

13 They soon forgot His worksand would not wait for His counsel.(M)

13 But they quickly forgot his deeds and did not wait for his counsel.

14 And they will desire a desire in the desert, and they will tempt God in the waste.

14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

14 But (Z)craved intensely in the wilderness,And (n)(AA)tempted God in the desert.

14 They were seized with craving in the wildernessand tested God in the desert.(N)

14 They were overwhelmed with craving in the wilderness, so God tested them in the wasteland.

15 And he will give to them their asking; and he will send leanness into their soul.

15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

15 So He (AB)gave them their request,But (AC)sent a (o)wasting disease among them.

15 He gave them what they asked for,but sent a wasting disease among them.(O)

15 God granted them their request, but sent leanness into their lives.

16 And they will be jealous. against Moses in the camp, against Aaron the holy of Jehovah.

16 They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

16 When they became (AD)envious of Moses in the camp,And of Aaron, the holy one of the Lord,

16 In the camp they were envious of Mosesand of Aaron, the Lord’s holy one.(P)

16 They were envious of Moses in the camp, and of Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.

17 The earth will open and will swallow down Dathan, and will cover the assembly of Abiram.

17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

17 The (AE)earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,And engulfed the (p)company of Abiram.

17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan;it covered the assembly of Abiram.(Q)

17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, closing over Abiram's clan.

18 And a fire will be kindled in their assembly; the flame will burn up the unjust

18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

18 And a (AF)fire blazed up in their (q)company; The flame consumed the wicked.

18 Fire blazed throughout their assembly;flames consumed the wicked.(R)

18 Then a fire burned among their company, a flame that set the wicked ablaze.

19 They will make a calf in Horeb, and they will worship to the molten image.

19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

19 They (AG)made a calf in HorebAnd worshiped a molten image.

19 At Horeb they made a calfand worshiped the cast metal image.(S)

19 They fashioned a calf at Horeb and worshipped a carved image.

20 And they will change their glory into the likeness of an ox eating grass.

20 Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

20 Thus they (AH)exchanged their gloryFor the image of an ox that eats grass.

20 They exchanged their glory(a)(b)for the image of a grass-eating ox.(T)

20 They exchanged their glory with the image of a grass-eating bull.

21 They forgat God saving them, doing great things in Egypt

21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

21 They (AI)forgot God their Savior,Who had done (AJ)great things in Egypt,

21 They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,(U)

21 They forgot God their Savior, who performed great things in Egypt

22 Wonders in the land of Ham, terrible things in the sea of sedge.

22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

22 (r)(AK)Wonders in the land of HamAnd awesome things by the (s)Red Sea.

22 wonderful works in the land of Ham,(c)awe-inspiring acts at the Red Sea.(V)

22 awesome deeds in the land of Ham, astonishing deeds at the Reed Sea.

23 And he will say to destroy them unless Moses his chosen stood in the breaking before him to turn away his wrath from destroying.

23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

23 Therefore (AL)He said that He would destroy them,Had not (AM)Moses His chosen one stood in the breach before Him,To turn away His wrath from destroying them.

23 So He said He would have destroyed them—if Moses His chosen onehad not stood before Him in the breachto turn His wrath away from destroying them.(W)

23 He would have destroyed them but for Moses, his chosen one, who stood in the breach before him to avert his destructive wrath.

24 And they will despise in the land of desire; they trusted not to his word:

24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

24 Then they (AN)despised the (AO)pleasant land; They (AP)did not believe in His word,

24 They despised the pleasant landand did not believe His promise.(X)

24 They rejected the desirable land, and they didn't trust his promise.

25 And they will murmur in their tents; they heard not to the voice of Jehovah.

25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

25 But (AQ)grumbled in their tents; They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.

25 They grumbled in their tentsand did not listen to the Lord’s voice.(Y)

25 They murmured in their tents, and didn't listen to the voice of the LORD.

26 And he will lift up his hand against them: he will cause them to fall in the desert:

26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

26 Therefore He (t)(AR)swore to themThat He would cast them down in the wilderness,

26 So He raised His hand against them with an oaththat He would make them fall in the desert(Z)

26 So he swore an oath concerning them that he would cause them to die in the wilderness,

27 And to cause their seed to fall among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

27 To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

27 And that He would (AS)cast their seed among the nationsAnd (AT)scatter them in the lands.

27 and would disperse their descendants(d)among the nations, scattering them throughout the lands.(AA)

27 to cause their children to perish among the nations and be scattered among many lands.

28 And they will be bound to Baalpeor, and they will eat the sacrifices of the dead.

28 They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

28 They (AU)joined themselves also to (u)Baal-peor,And ate (AV)sacrifices offered to the dead.

28 They aligned themselves with Baal of Peorand ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.(e)(AB)

28 For they adopted the worship of Baal Peor and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

29 And they will irritate in their doings, and the blow will break upon them.

29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

29 Thus they (AW)provoked Him to anger with their deeds,And the plague broke out among them.

29 They provoked the Lord with their deeds, and a plague broke out against them.(AC)

29 They had provoked anger by their deeds, so that a plague broke out against them.

30 And Phinehas will stand and intercede, and the blow will be restrained.

30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

30 Then Phinehas (AX)stood up and interposed,And so the (AY)plague was stayed.

30 But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped.(AD)

30 But Phinehas intervened and prayed so that the plague was restrained.

31 And it will be reckoned to him for justice to generation and generation, even to forever.

31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

31 And it was (AZ)reckoned to him for righteousness,To all generations forever.

31 It was credited to him as righteousnessthroughout all generations to come.(AE)

31 And it was credited to him as a righteous act, from generation to generation to eternity.

32 And they will anger him at the water of strife, and it will be evil to Moses on account of them:

32 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

32 They also (BA)provoked Him to wrath at the waters of (v)Meribah,So that it (BB)went hard with Moses on their account;

32 They angered the Lord at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered(f) because of them;(AF)

32 They provoked wrath at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered on account of them.

33 For they embittered his spirit, and he talked idly with his lips.

33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

33 Because they (BC)were rebellious against (w)His Spirit,He spoke rashly with his lips.

33 for they embittered his spirit,(g)and he spoke rashly with his lips.(AG)

33 For they rebelled against him, so that he spoke thoughtlessly with his lips.

34 They did not destroy the peoples which Jehovah said to them.

34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

34 They (BD)did not destroy the peoples,As (BE)the Lord commanded them,

34 They did not destroy the peoplesas the Lord had commanded them(AH)

34 They never destroyed the people, as the LORD had commanded them.

35 And they will mingle with the nations, and they will learn their works.

35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

35 But (BF)they mingled with the nationsAnd learned their (x)practices,

35 but mingled with the nationsand adopted their ways.(AI)

35 Instead, they mingled among the nations and learned their ways.

36 And they will serve their images, and they will be for a snare to them.

36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

36 And (BG)served their idols,(BH)Which became a snare to them.

36 They served their idols, which became a snare to them.(AJ)

36 They worshipped their idols, and this became a trap for them.

37 And they will sacrifice their sons and their daughters to lords.

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

37 They even (BI)sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the (BJ)demons,

37 They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.(AK)

37 They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.

38 And they will pour out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters which they sacrificed to the images of Canaan: and the land will be polluted with bloods.

38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

38 And shed (BK)innocent blood,The blood of their (BL)sons and their daughters,Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was (BM)polluted with the blood.

38 They shed innocent blood—the blood of their sons and daughterswhom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;so the land became polluted with blood.(AL)

38 They shed innocent blood the blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, thereby polluting the land with blood.

39 And they will be defiled with their works: and they will commit fornication in their doings.

39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

39 Thus they became (BN)unclean in their (y)practices,And (BO)played the harlot in their deeds.

39 They defiled themselves by their actionsand prostituted themselves by their deeds.(AM)

39 Therefore, they became unclean because of what they did; they have acted like whores by their evil deeds.

40 And the anger of Jehovah will kindle against his people, and he will abhor his inheritance.

40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

40 Therefore the (BP)anger of the Lord was kindled against His peopleAnd He (BQ)abhorred His (z)(BR)inheritance.

40 Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against His people, and He abhorred His own inheritance.(AN)

40 The LORD's anger burned against his people, so that he despised his own inheritance.

41 And he will give them into the hand of the nations; and they hating them shall rule over them.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

41 Then (BS)He gave them into the hand of the (aa)nations,And those who hated them ruled over them.

41 He handed them over to the nations;those who hated them ruled them.(AO)

41 He turned them over to domination by nations where those who hated them ruled over them.

42 And their enemies will press them, and they shall be humbled under their hand.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

42 Their enemies also (BT)oppressed them,And they were subdued under their (ab)power.

42 Their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under their power.(AP)

42 Their enemies oppressed them, so that they were humiliated by their power.

43 Many times he will deliver them, and they will embitter with their counsel, and they will be brought low in their iniquity.

43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

43 Many times He would (BU)deliver them; They, however, were rebellious in their (BV)counsel,And so (BW)sank down in their iniquity.

43 He rescued them many times, but they continued to rebel deliberatelyand were beaten down by their sin.(AQ)

43 He delivered them many times, but they demonstrated rebellion by their evil plans; therefore they sunk deep in their sins.

44 And he will look upon straits to them in his hearing their wailing.

44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

44 Nevertheless He looked upon their distressWhen He (BX)heard their cry;

44 When He heard their cry,He took note of their distress,(AR)

44 Yet when he saw their distress and heard their cries for help,

45 And he will remember his covenant to them, and he will console according to the multitude of his mercy.

45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

45 And He (BY)remembered His covenant for their sake,And (ac)(BZ)relented (CA)according to the greatness of His lovingkindness.

45 remembered His covenant with them, and relented according to the richesof His faithful love.(AS)

45 he remembered his covenant with them, and so relented according to the greatness of his gracious love.

46 And he will give them for compassions before all those carrying them away captive.

46 He also made them (CB)objects of compassionIn the presence of all their captors.

46 He caused them to be pitiedbefore all their captors.(AT)

46 He caused all their captors to show compassion toward them.

47 Save us, O Jehovah our God, and gather us from the nations to confess to thy holy name, to boast in thy praise

47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

47 (CC)Save us, O Lord our God,And (CD)gather us from among the nations,To give thanks to Your holy nameAnd (ad)(CE)glory in Your praise.
