to a maiden betrothed to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. Her name was Mary.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city if Nazareth, into Judea, to David's town of Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David.

Now there was in Jerusalem a man whose name was Simeon. He was righteous and devout, and was waiting for the consolation of Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him.

Those who went ahead began to reprove him and to tell him to be still; but he kept clamorously shouting all the more, "Son of David, take pity on me!"

"How is it," he asked them, "that they say that Christ is David's son?

"for David himself say's in the book of the Psalms, "The Lord said to my Lord. Sit at my right hand,

"David therefore himself calls him 'Lord,' and how can he be his son?"
