The alien that [is] in your midst shall ascend over you, higher [and] higher, but you shall go down lower [and] lower.

They're across the Jordan River to the west, aren't they, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah opposite Gilgal near the Oak of Moreh?

Be sure you destroy there all the places where the nations that you're going to dispossess serve their gods upon the high mountains and hills and under every leafy tree.

He will say to them, "Listen, Israel! You're about to go into battle today against your enemies. Don't be faint-hearted. Don't be afraid, don't panic, and don't be terrified to face them.

because they're not just empty words for you they are your very life. Through these instructions you will live long in the land that you are about to cross over the Jordan River to possess."

Moses ascended from the desert plain of Moab toward Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the entire land, from Gilgal as far as Dan,

and bring in thither your ascending-offerings and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave-offering of your hand, - and your vow-offerings and your freewill-offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock;

then shall it be, that unto the place which Yahweh your God shall choose to make a habitation for his name there, thither, shall ye bring in all that I am commanding you, - your ascending-offerings and your sacrifices your tithes and the heave-offering of your hand, and all your chosen vow-offerings which ye shall vow unto Yahweh.

and shalt offer thine ascending-sacrifices, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of Yahweh thy God, - and the blood of thine other sacrifices, shall be poured out upon the altar of Yahweh thy God, and then the flesh, shalt thou eat.

And Jehovah gave thee for head, and not for tail: and thou wert only for ascending, and thou shalt not be for beneath; when thou shalt hear to the commands of Jehovah thy God that I command thee this day, to watch and to do.
