But when you do your giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

But you, brothers and sisters, do not grow weary in doing what is right.

But in fact, if you happen to suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. But do not be terrified of them or be shaken.

For all who rely on doing the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the book of the law."

For it is better to suffer for doing good, if God wills it, than for doing evil.

Therefore when I was planning to do this, I did not do so without thinking about what I was doing, did I? Or do I make my plans according to mere human standards so that I would be saying both "Yes, yes" and "No, no" at the same time?

Therefore, if I come, I will call attention to the deeds he is doing -- the bringing of unjustified charges against us with evil words! And not being content with that, he not only refuses to welcome the brothers himself, but hinders the people who want to do so and throws them out of the church!

So Jesus answered them, "I tell you the solemn truth, the Son can do nothing on his own initiative, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise.

For I don't understand what I am doing. For I do not do what I want -- instead, I do what I hate.

Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer me doing it but sin that lives in me.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.

But when the Pharisees saw this they said to him, "Look, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath."

and said, "By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?"

and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was misleading the people. When I examined him before you, I did not find this man guilty of anything you accused him of doing.

For no one who seeks to make a reputation for himself does anything in secret. If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world."

"Our law doesn't condemn a man unless it first hears from him and learns what he is doing, does it?"

Jesus replied, "You do not understand what I am doing now, but you will understand after these things."

I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from my Father.

yet he did not leave himself without a witness by doing good, by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying you with food and your hearts with joy."

that you abstain from meat that has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what has been strangled and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from doing these things, you will do well. Farewell.

And what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may eliminate any opportunity for those who want a chance to be regarded as our equals in the things they boast about.

The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard?

Does God then give you the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law or by your believing what you heard?

So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up.

not like those who do their work only when someone is watching -- as people-pleasers -- but as slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the heart.

And we are confident about you in the Lord that you are both doing -- and will do -- what we are commanding.

like Sarah who obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You become her children when you do what is good and have no fear in doing so.
