a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig-trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey;

And the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come you, and reign over us.'

But the fig tree said to them, 'Shall I leave my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to sway over the trees?'

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

For there is hope for a tree: if it be cut down, it will sprout again, and its tender branch will not cease;

He breaketh me down on every side, and I am gone; and my hope hath he torn up as a tree.

The womb forgetteth him; the worm feedeth sweetly on him: he shall be no more remembered; and unrighteousness is broken as a tree, --

And he is as a tree planted by brooks of water, which giveth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf fadeth not; and all that he doeth prospereth.
