But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?"
They said to him, "We are able." So Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized;
But Jesus called them to himself and said to them, "You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
So Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take heart; rise, he is calling you."
And Jesus said to him, "What do you want me to do for you?" And the blind man said to him, "Master, let me receive my sight."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
and said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it.
And some of those who stood there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"
And he said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard it.
And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers."
Peter remembered and said to him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered."
And they said to him, "By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do them?"
Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."
But those tenants said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'
When they came, they said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and care about no man; for you do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?
Should we pay them, or should we not?" But knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, "Why do you put me to the test? Bring me a denarius, and let me look at it."
And they brought one. And he said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" They said to him, "Caesar's."
Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at him.
Jesus said to them, "Is not this why you are wrong, that you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?
And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?
And the scribe said to him, "You are right, Teacher; you have well said that God is one, and there is no other but he;
And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And after that no one dared to ask him any question.
And Jesus said, while he taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?
David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand till I put your enemies under your feet."'
And in his teaching he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes, and to have salutations in the market places
And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.
And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!"
And Jesus said to him, "Do you see all these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another, that will not be thrown down."
But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people."
But there were some who said to themselves indignantly, "Why was this ointment wasted?
But Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him.
And as they were at table eating, Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me."
He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, one who dips bread into the dish with me.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take; this is my body."
And he said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.
And Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away; for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'
Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you that this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."
But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die with you, I will not deny you!" And they all said the same.
They went to a place which was called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I pray."
And he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; stay here, and watch."
And he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me; yet not what I will, but what you will."
Then he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour?
Then he came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
And when he came, he went up to him at once, and said, "Rabbi!" and he kissed him.
And Jesus said to them, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me?
And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."
The high priest tore his clothes and said, "Why do we need any more witnesses?
And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, "You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus."
But again he denied it. And after a little while again those standing near said to Peter, "Surely you are one of them; for you are a Gallilean."
And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." And he broke down and wept.
And Pilate again said to them, "Then what shall I do with the man whom you call the King of the Jews?"
And Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has he done?" But they shouted all the more, "Crucify him!"
So also the chief priests mocked him among themselves with the scribes, and said, "He saved others; he cannot save himself.
When some of those standing near heard this, they said, "Behold, he is calling Elijah."
So when the centurion, who stood opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God!"
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

Then he said, "Truly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.
And they were all amazed and said to one another, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!"
