And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple. And he overturned the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of those who sold the doves. And he says to them, It is written, My house will be called a house of prayer, but ye made it a den of robbers.

All, as many as came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.

Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says LORD, who steal my words each one from his neighbor.

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter in by the door into the fold of the sheep, but goes up some other way, that man is a thief and a robber.






He who robs his father or his mother, and says, It is no transgression, the same is the companion of a destroyer.

Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry. Yet if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold. He shall give all the substance of his house.

The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery. Yea, they have vexed the poor and needy man, and have oppressed the sojourner wrongfully.

There is nothing but swearing and breaking faith, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery. They break out, and blood touches blood.


The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. And in the night he is as a thief.

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night (how thou are cut off!), would they not steal [only] till they had enough? If grape gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?


to turn aside the needy from justice, and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!

These are things defiling the man. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.

The tents of robbers prosper, and those who provoke God are secure. Into whose hand God brings [abundantly].
