Moses, indeed, said, 'A prophet will the Lord your God raise up for you from among your brethren, as He did me; to Him shall ye hearken in all things, whatsoever He shall say to you.
This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, A Prophet will God raise up for you of your brethren, as He did me.
And the multitudes said, "This is the Prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."
And fear seized on all; and they were glorifying God, saying, "A great prophet was raised up among us," and "God did visit His people."
And, while seeking to lay hold on Him, they feared the multitudes, since they were holding Him as a prophet.
And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he says, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" And he answered, "No."
The men, therefore, seeing the sign that He did, said, "This, truly, is the Prophet Who cometh into the world."
Some of the multitude, therefore, having heard these words, said, "Truly This is the Prophet;"
They say, therefore, to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him, seeing that He opened your eyes?" And he said, "He is a Prophet."
And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Prophet, mighty in deed and word, before God and all the people:
But others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is a prophet, or as one of the prophets."
And they told Him, saying, 'John the Immerser;' and others, 'Elijah;' but others, 'One of the prophets.'"
And they, answering, said, 'John the Immerser;' and others, 'Elijah;' and others, 'that a certain prophet of the ancients arose.'
And they asked him, and said to him, "Why, then, do you immerse, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?"
They answered, and said to him, "Are you also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee arises no prophet."
But, seeing it, the Pharisee who invited Him, spake in himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what sort of woman this is that is touching Him, because she is a sinner."
And He said, "Verily I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country.
And some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy;" and the officers received Him with blows of their hands.
