Accept my instruction instead of silver,
and knowledge rather than pure gold. For wisdom is better than jewels,
and nothing desirable can compare with it.
Those who are wise will shine
like the bright expanse of the heavens,
and those who lead many to righteousness,
like the stars forever and ever.
My son, don’t forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commands; for they will bring you
many days, a full life, and well-being.
Precious treasure and oil are in the dwelling of a wise person,
but a foolish man consumes them. The one who pursues righteousness and faithful love
will find life, righteousness, and honor.
For the shepherds are stupid:
they don’t seek the Lord.
Therefore they have not prospered,
and their whole flock is scattered.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He stores up success for the upright;
He is a shield for those who live with integrity so that He may guard the paths of justice
and protect the way of His loyal followers.read more.
Then you will understand righteousness, justice,
and integrity—every good path. For wisdom will enter your mind,
and knowledge will delight your heart. Discretion will watch over you,
and understanding will guard you,
The one who trusts in himself is a fool,
but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.
Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time.
Who is wise and has understanding among you? He should show his works by good conduct with wisdom’s gentleness.
Listen, my son, and be wise;
keep your mind on the right course.
“For My people are fools;
they do not know Me.
They are foolish children,
They are skilled in doing what is evil,
but they do not know how to do what is good.”
Let whoever is wise understand these things,
and whoever is insightful recognize them.
For the ways of the Lord are right,
and the righteous walk in them,
but the rebellious stumble in them.
The report of your obedience has reached everyone. Therefore I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise about what is good, yet innocent about what is evil.
For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.
But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t brag and deny the truth. Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil. read more.
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy.
“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like 10 virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the groom. Five of them were foolish and five were sensible. When the foolish took their lamps, they didn’t take olive oil with them.read more.
But the sensible ones took oil in their flasks with their lamps. Since the groom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “In the middle of the night there was a shout: ‘Here’s the groom! Come out to meet him.’ “Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. But the foolish ones said to the sensible ones, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ “The sensible ones answered, ‘No, there won’t be enough for us and for you. Go instead to those who sell, and buy oil for yourselves.’ “When they had gone to buy some, the groom arrived. Then those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet, and the door was shut.
It is by me that kings reign
and rulers enact just law; by me, princes lead,
as do nobles and all righteous judges.
Therefore, brothers, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we can appoint to this duty.
These dogs have fierce appetites;
they never have enough.
And they are shepherds
who have no discernment;
all of them turn to their own way,
every last one for his own gain.
I will give you shepherds who are loyal to Me, and they will shepherd you with knowledge and skill.
So give Your servant an obedient heart to judge Your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”
Wisdom calls out in the street;
she raises her voice in the public squares. She cries out above the commotion;
she speaks at the entrance of the city gates:
Doesn’t Wisdom call out?
Doesn’t Understanding make her voice heard?
However, we do speak a wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory.
We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.
Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God.
a wise man will listen and increase his learning,
and a discerning man will obtain guidance—
The one who walks with the wise will become wise,
but a companion of fools will suffer harm.
Listen to counsel and receive instruction
so that you may be wise later in life.
Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. One woman said, “Please my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was in the house. On the third day after I gave birth, she also had a baby and we were alone. No one else was with us in the house; just the two of us were there. read more.
During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him. She got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while your servant was asleep. She laid him at her breast, and she put her dead son in my arms. When I got up in the morning to nurse my son, I discovered he was dead. That morning, when I looked closely at him I realized that he was not the son I gave birth to.” “No,” the other woman said. “My son is the living one; your son is the dead one.”The first woman said, “No, your son is the dead one; my son is the living one.” So they argued before the king. The king replied, “This woman says, ‘This is my son who is alive, and your son is dead,’ but that woman says, ‘No, your son is dead, and my son is alive.’” The king continued, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought the sword to the king. Solomon said, “Cut the living boy in two and give half to one and half to the other.” The woman whose son was alive spoke to the king because she felt great compassion for her son. “My lord, give her the living baby,” she said, “but please don’t have him killed!”But the other one said, “He will not be mine or yours. Cut him in two!” The king responded, “Give the living baby to the first woman, and don’t kill him. She is his mother.” All Israel heard about the judgment the king had given, and they stood in awe of the king because they saw that God’s wisdom was in him to carry out justice.
