Then the Jews replied, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and You will raise it up in three days?”

Nicodemus replied, "How can these things be?"

John replied, "No one can receive anything unless it has been given to them from heaven.

"How is it," replied the woman, "that a Jew like you asks me, who am a woman and a Samaritan, for water?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

Jesus replied, "Everyone who drinks some of this water will be thirsty again.

The woman replied, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "Right you are when you said, 'I have no husband,'

"I know," replied the woman, "that Messiah is coming--'the Christ,' as He is called. When He has come, He will tell us everything."

"I am he," Jesus replied, "the one who is speaking to you."

"You may return home," replied Jesus; "your son has recovered." He believed the words of Jesus, and started back home;

So he inquired of them at what hour he had shown improvement. "Yesterday, about seven o'clock," they replied, "the fever left him."

"Sir," replied the sufferer, "I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is moved; but while I am coming some one else steps down before me."

He replied, “The man who made me well told me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’”

Then Jesus replied, “I assure you: The Son is not able to do anything on His own, but only what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does these things in the same way.

Philip replied, "Two hundred silver coins worth of bread would not be enough for them, for each one to get a little."

Jesus replied to them, "Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were completely satisfied.

"In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that Moses did not give you the bread out of Heaven, but my Father is giving you the bread--the true bread--out of Heaven.

Jesus replied, "Do not complain about me to one another.

"Master," replied Simon Peter, "to whom shall we go? Your teachings tell us of the Life of the Ages.

So Jesus replied, "My time has not yet arrived, but you are ready at any opportunity!

Jesus replied, "I performed one miracle and you are all amazed.

The officers replied, "No one ever spoke like this man!"

Then the Pharisees replied to them, "You haven't been deceived, too, have you?

“You aren’t from Galilee too, are you?” they replied. “Investigate and you will see that no prophet arises from Galilee.”

When they persisted in asking him, he stood up straight and replied, "Whoever among you is guiltless may be the first to throw a stone at her."

"No one, sir," she replied. Then Jesus said, "I don't condemn you, either. Go home, and from now on don't sin anymore."

“Even if I testify about Myself,” Jesus replied, “My testimony is valid, because I know where I came from and where I’m going. But you don’t know where I come from or where I’m going.

So they were saying to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus replied, "You know neither me nor my Father! If you had known me, you would have known my Father also."

Jesus replied, "You don't know me or my Father. If you had known me, you would've known my Father, too." He spoke these words in the treasury, while he was teaching in the Temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

Jesus replied, "You people are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.

So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus replied, "What I have told you from the beginning.

They replied to him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves to anybody. So how can you say, "You will be set free'?"

“Our father is Abraham!” they replied.“If you were Abraham’s children,” Jesus told them, “you would do what Abraham did.

You are doing the deeds of your father." "We," they replied, "are not illegitimate children. We have one Father, namely God."

The Jewish leaders replied to him, "Surely we're right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon, aren't we?"

Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worthless. The one who glorifies me is my Father, about whom you people say, 'He is our God.'

The Jews replied, “You aren’t 50 years old yet, and You’ve seen Abraham?”

Jesus replied, "Neither this man sinned nor his parents, but [it happened] so that the works of God could be revealed in him.

"Yes it is," replied some of them. "No it is not," said others, "but he is like him." His own statement was, "I am the man."

He replied, "The man called Jesus made mud, smeared it on my eyes and told me, 'Go to Siloam and wash.' So I went and washed, and was able to see."

They said to him, "Where is that man?" He replied, "I don't know."

So the Pharisees asked him again how he had gained his sight. He replied, "He put mud on my eyes and I washed, and now I am able to see."

So again they asked the man who used to be blind, "What do you say about him, since he caused you to see?" "He is a prophet," the man replied.

His parents replied, "We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.

He replied, "I do not know whether he is a sinner. I do know one thing -- that although I was blind, now I can see."

He replied to them, "I told you already and you did not listen! Why do you want to hear [it] again? You do not want to become his disciples also, [do you]?"

The man replied, "This is a remarkable thing, that you don't know where he comes from, and yet he caused me to see!

“You were born entirely in sin,” they replied, “and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.

The man replied, "And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?"

Jesus replied, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now because you claim that you can see, your guilt remains."

Jesus replied, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. Which of these works are you stoning Me for?”

The Jewish leaders replied, "We are not going to stone you for a good deed but for blasphemy, because you, a man, are claiming to be God."

Jesus replied to them, "Is it not written in your Law, "I said, "You are gods"'?

The disciples replied, "Rabbi, the Jewish leaders were just now trying to stone you to death! Are you going there again?"

Jesus replied, "There are twelve hours in the day, aren't there? If anyone walks during the day he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

Then the disciples replied, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."

Jesus replied, "Your brother will come back to life again."

He asked, "Where have you laid him?" They replied, "Lord, come and see."

Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, replied, "Lord, by this time the body will have a bad smell, because he has been buried four days."

Jesus replied, "This voice is for your benefit, not for mine.

Then the crowd replied to Him, “We have heard from the scripture that the Messiah will remain forever. So how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

Jesus replied to the crowd, "The light is among you only for a short time. Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness may not overtake you. The person who walks in the darkness is in the darkness and does not know where he is going.

“You will never wash my feet—ever!” Peter said.Jesus replied, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with Me.”

Jesus replied, "The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not every one of you."

Jesus replied, “He’s the one I give the piece of bread to after I have dipped it.” When He had dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son.

Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later."

Jesus replied, “Will you lay down your life for Me? I assure you: A rooster will not crow until you have denied Me three times.

They replied, "Jesus the Nazarene." He told them, "I am he." (Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, was standing there with them.)

“I told you I am He,” Jesus replied. “So if you’re looking for Me, let these men go.”

The young woman at the gate asked Peter, "You aren't one of this man's disciples, too, are you?" "I am not," he replied.

Jesus replied, "I have spoken publicly to the world. I always taught in the synagogues and in the temple courts, where all the Jewish people assemble together. I have said nothing in secret.

Jesus replied, "If I have said something wrong, confirm what is wrong. But if I spoke correctly, why strike me?"

They replied, "If this man were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you."

Pilate told them, "Take him yourselves and pass judgment on him according to your own law!" The Jewish leaders replied, "We cannot legally put anyone to death."

Jesus replied, "Are you asking this on your own initiative, or did others tell you about me?"

“I’m not a Jew, am I?” Pilate replied. “Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?”
