'Speak' in the Bible
But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.
For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.
As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.
But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.
While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.
Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.”
And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable.
How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
“Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?”
and He did not speak to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples.
They were utterly astonished, saying, “He has done all things well; He makes even the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”
But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me.
And He began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard and put a wall around it, and dug a vat under the wine press and built a tower, and rented it out to vine-growers and went on a journey.
When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.
These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
The angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
And behold, you shall be silent and unable to speak until the day when these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”

They questioned Him, saying, “Teacher, we know that You speak and teach correctly, and You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth.
The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony.
At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why do You speak with her?”
If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
The officers answered, “Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks.”
I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world.”
So Jesus said, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.
I speak the things which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from your father.”
Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
but how he now sees, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him; he is of age, he will speak for himself.”
For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.
I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”
I do not speak of all of you. I know the ones I have chosen; but it is that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats My bread has lifted up his heel against Me.’
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
“These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but will tell you plainly of the Father.
But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves.
So Pilate *said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?”
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.
But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name.”
And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence,
And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
“Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple the whole message of this Life.”
They took his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.
Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God.”
and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’
And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning.
They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;

But Paul said, “I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.”
And Paul said, “I was not aware, brethren, that he was high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’”

But some days later Felix arrived with Drusilla, his wife who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.
Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and proceeded to make his defense:
For the king knows about these matters, and I speak to him also with confidence, since I am persuaded that none of these things escape his notice; for this has not been done in a corner.
For this reason, therefore, I requested to see you and to speak with you, for I am wearing this chain for the sake of the hope of Israel.”
For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed,
Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;
but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;
which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ.
I speak as to wise men; you judge what I say.
All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they?
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.
But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation or of knowledge or of prophecy or of teaching?
I thank God, I speak in tongues more than you all;
however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.
In the Law it is written, “By men of strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to Me,” says the Lord.
Therefore if the whole church assembles together and all speak in tongues, and ungifted men or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad?
but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God.
Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment.
The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.
If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.
Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.
Become sober-minded as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.
But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, therefore I spoke,” we also believe, therefore we also speak,
Now in a like exchange—I speak as to children—open wide to us also.
