'Answered' in the Bible
he said to Arioch, the king’s commander, “For what reason is the decree from the king so urgent?” Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter.
Daniel said,“Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever,For wisdom and power belong to Him.
The king said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen and its interpretation?”
Daniel answered before the king and said, “As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither wise men, conjurers, magicians nor diviners are able to declare it to the king.
The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery.”
Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter.
Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial expression was altered toward Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He answered by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, “Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?” They replied to the king, “Certainly, O king.”
He said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”
“Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was appalled for a while as his thoughts alarmed him. The king responded and said, ‘Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation alarm you.’ Belteshazzar replied, ‘My lord, if only the dream applied to those who hate you and its interpretation to your adversaries!
Then Daniel answered and said before the king, “Keep your gifts for yourself or give your rewards to someone else; however, I will read the inscription to the king and make the interpretation known to him.
Then they approached and spoke before the king about the king’s injunction, “Did you not sign an injunction that any man who makes a petition to any god or man besides you, O king, for thirty days, is to be cast into the lions’ den?” The king replied, “The statement is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which may not be revoked.”
Then they answered and spoke before the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the injunction which you signed, but keeps making his petition three times a day.”
Then Amos replied to Amaziah, “I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet; for I am a herdsman and a grower of sycamore figs.
and he said,“I called out of my distress to the Lord,And He answered me.I cried for help from the depth of Sheol;You heard my voice.
“My people, remember nowWhat Balak king of Moab counseledAnd what Balaam son of Beor answered him,And from Shittim to Gilgal,So that you might know the righteous acts of the Lord.”
Then the Lord answered me and said,“Record the visionAnd inscribe it on tablets,That the one who reads it may run.
If a man carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and touches bread with this fold, or cooked food, wine, oil, or any other food, will it become holy?’” And the priests answered, “No.”
Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean from a corpse touches any of these, will the latter become unclean?” And the priests answered, “It will become unclean.”
Then Haggai said, “‘So is this people. And so is this nation before Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those whom the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.”
So they answered the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees and said, “We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is peaceful and quiet.”
Then the angel of the Lord said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will You have no compassion for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which You have been indignant these seventy years?”
The Lord answered the angel who was speaking with me with gracious words, comforting words.
So I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.”
Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, “What are these, my lord?”
So the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.
Then I said to him, “What are these two olive trees on the right of the lampstand and on its left?”
And I answered the second time and said to him, “What are the two olive branches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden oil from themselves?”
So he answered me, saying, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”
And he said to me, “What do you see?” And I answered, “I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits.”
The angel replied to me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth after standing before the Lord of all the earth,
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”
But the centurion said, “Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see:
At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”
But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet;
But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”
Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.
And He said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,
Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.
But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
And He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”
Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.
But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things;
And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.”
And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female,
Then Peter said to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed You; what then will there be for us?”
But he answered and said to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius?
But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They *said to Him, “We are able.”
And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.
Jesus said to them, “I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.
And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went.
The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go.
But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God.
And He said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.”
And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.
But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’
But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’
“But his master answered and said to him, ‘You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed.
And He answered, “He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me.
And Judas, who was betraying Him, said, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus *said to him, “You have said it yourself.”
But Peter said to Him, “Even though all may fall away because of You, I will never fall away.”
what do you think?” They answered, “He deserves death!”
But the governor said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”
And all the people said, “His blood shall be on us and on our children!”
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.
But He answered them, “You give them something to eat!” And they *said to Him, “Shall we go and spend two hundred denarii on bread and give them something to eat?”
But she answered and *said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.”
And His disciples answered Him, “Where will anyone be able to find enough bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”
And He continued by questioning them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter *answered and *said to Him, “You are the Christ.”
Peter *said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
And one of the crowd answered Him, “Teacher, I brought You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute;
And He *answered them and *said, “O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him to Me!”
And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”
The disciples were amazed at His words. But Jesus *answered again and *said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening.
And Jesus *answered saying to them, “Have faith in God.
One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?”
Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord;
When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” After that, no one would venture to ask Him any more questions.
And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me, as you would against a robber?
Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”
The angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.
But his mother answered and said, “No indeed; but he shall be called John.”
John answered and said to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’”
And Jesus answered and said to him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
