On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and shouted in a loud voice: If any man thirst let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will flow from the innermost being of the man who believes in me. This is according to the scriptures. He spoke this by the Spirit. Those who believed in him were to receive the Spirit. The Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed. You hanged him on a stake. God exalted him to his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. We are witnesses of these things. These men are not drunk as you suppose for it is only nine o'clock in the morning. This is what the prophet Joel spoke about: It will come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out from my Spirit upon all flesh. Some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene. When they came to Antioch they spoke to the Greeks and preached the Lord Jesus. The hand (Spirit) of God was with them. A great number believed, and turned to the Lord.
