Without faith it is impossible to please God. He who comes to God must believe that he is and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

But if I do them and you do not believe me, believe the works! That way you may know and understand that the Father is with me, and I am with the Father.

Jesus said: I am the resurrection and the life. He who puts active faith in me will live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and puts active faith in me will never die. Do you believe this? She said: Yes Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God who is to come into the world.

Philip said: Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us. Jesus responded: Have I been with you so long a time and you do not know me Philip? Believe me that I am with the Father and the Father is with me, or else believe me because of the works.

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must also be lifted up. Everyone who has an active faith in him may have everlasting life. For God loved the world so much, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever has an active faith in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He gave the right to become children of God to all who received him. Even to those who believe in his name. They were born from God. It was not from blood, or the will of the flesh, or the will of man.

He who puts active faith in the Son has everlasting life. He who disobeys* the Son will not see life for the wrath of God remains upon him. (*Greek: apeitheo: willfully disobey, not having faith)

On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and shouted in a loud voice: If any man thirst let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will flow from the innermost being of the man who believes in me. This is according to the scriptures. He spoke this by the Spirit. Those who believed in him were to receive the Spirit. The Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified.

These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. By believing you may have life in his name.

You should know, men and brothers that it is through this man Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him all who believe are justified from all things. You could not be justified through the Law of Moses.

They said: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.

God makes people righteous through their active faith in Jesus Christ. God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at all.

Brothers, I know you acted in ignorance just as your rulers did. The things God fulfilled he announced beforehand by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer. The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. O God, you do not despise a broken and sorrowful (contrite) heart.

Go and proclaim this message to the north: 'Come back, unfaithful Israel. It is Jehovah speaking. I will no longer frown on you because I am merciful,' declares Jehovah. 'I will no longer be angry with you. Admit that you have done wrong! You have rebelled against Jehovah your God. You have given yourself to foreign gods under every large tree. You have not obeyed me,' says Jehovah.

Jehovah says: Stand by the way [of life] and see and ask for the ancient paths. Walk in the good way and you will find rest. But you said: We will not walk in it!

But the tax collector stood far away and would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven. He beat his breast, saying: God, be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you the tax collector and not the Pharisee was right with God when he went home. He who exalts himself will be humbled! He who humbles himself will be exalted!

God overlooked the times of ignorance; but now he commands men everywhere to repent.

Repent of this wickedness, and pray to God, that the thought in your heart may be forgiven you.

However, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, I will hear their prayer from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country.

Turn away from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it!

A Savior will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from sin, declares Jehovah.

Jehovah has sent all his servants the prophets to you. Yet, you have not listened or paid attention to them. The prophets said: Turn from your evil ways and the evil you have done, and live in the land that Jehovah permanently gave to you and your ancestors. Do not follow other gods to serve and worship them. Do not make me furious about the idols your hands have shaped. Then I will not harm you.

I witnessed to both Jews and to Greeks about repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

From there you will seek Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your being. And you will find him! When you are in trouble (distress) and all these things happen to you in the latter days, turn to Jehovah your God and obey his voice. Jehovah your God is a merciful God. He will not forsake you. He will not destroy you, nor forget the covenant he made with your fathers.

You shall again obey Jehovah, and observe all his commandments that I command you today. Jehovah your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand. In the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, you will prosper. Jehovah will again rejoice over you for good, just as he rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey Jehovah your God to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to Jehovah your God with all your heart with all your being.

Jehovah says: Israel, remember this! Remember that you are my servant. I created you to be my servant, and I will never forget you. I have swept your sins away like a cloud. Come back to me! I am the one who saves you.

Seek Jehovah while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to Jehovah, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Return, O Israel, to Jehovah your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity. Return to Jehovah and say to him: 'Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit (young bulls) of our lips.' (Hebrews 13:15)

Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded (uncertain) (doubter) (skeptic). Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the presence of God, and he will exalt you.

Then Peter said: Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying: All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe all the things I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

When they believed what Philip preached about the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Can any man keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit as we have. He ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.

While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country to Ephesus, and found some disciples. He said to them: Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? They said: We have never even heard of a Holy Spirit. Paul asked: What kind of baptism did you get? They replied: It was the baptism John taught.read more.
Paul said: John baptized with the baptism of repentance. He told the people they should believe in Jesus, the one who came after John. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Wait no longer! Get up and be baptized and have your sins washed away by praying to him.'

If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and have active faith in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes for righteousness. And with the mouth one declares for salvation.

I will tell my heavenly Father about everyone who confesses me (witnesses to others about me) before men.

I tell you, every one who confesses me before men; the Son of man will also confess him before the angels of God. He who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of the angels of God.

Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me. I am meek (mild) and humble in heart. You will have a restful life, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

If the Teacher and Lord washed your feet you should wash one another's feet. I have given you an example. You should also do as I have done to you.

Have this attitude (mind-set) (understanding) (mental state) in you that was also in Christ Jesus.

For this you were called because Christ also suffered for you. He left you an example (a copy for imitation) (a model) that you should follow in his steps.

If you love me, you will keep (obey) my commandments!

He that has my commandments, and obeys them loves me. My Father will love the person who loves me. I will love him and disclose myself to him.

If you obey my commandments you will remain in my love. I have obeyed my Father's commandments and remain in his love.

We know that we know him, when we obey his commandments. He who says: I know him, and does not obey his commandments is a liar! The truth is not in him. Whoever obeys his Word; the love of God is made perfect (complete) (mature) in him. By this we know that we are in union with him.read more.
He that says he lives in union with him should walk as he walked.

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us we have confidence toward God. Whatever we ask we receive from Him because we obey His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. The one who obeys God's commandments lives in God, and God lives in (with) Him. We know that He lives in (with) us by the Spirit He gave us.

For this is the love of God, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

Then Jesus told his disciples: If any man wants to follow me (be mine), let him deny (disown) himself, and take up his stake and follow me (Greek: akoloutheo moi, let him be following me) (accompany me) (be in the same way with me).

He then spoke to both his disciples and the crowd. He said: If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his stake and follow me.

He told them all: If any man would come after me let him deny himself. Let him take up his stake (of self-denial) daily, and follow me.

After they preached the good news to that city and taught many, they returned again to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch. They strengthened the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith. They said, We must enter the kingdom of God through much tribulation.

It has been granted to you in behalf of Christ. Not only to believe on him, but also to suffer in his behalf.

You carefully follow my teaching in conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, and patience, and also persecutions and sufferings. The things that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured. Out of them the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who would live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials.

Even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. Do not fear! Do not be troubled (distressed) (intimidated)!

Beloved ones do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, for it comes upon you like a test, as though some strange thing were happening to you. As much as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.read more.
Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a meddler in other people's business. If a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name. For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God. If it begins with us first what will it be like in the end for those who do not obey the good news of God? If the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinners appear?
