Psalm 18

¹ I will love thee, O Yahweh my strength!

¹ {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,} I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

¹ For the choir director. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord, ^(a)who spoke to the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said,“I love You, O Lord, ^(A)my strength.”

¹ For the choir director. Of the servant of the Lord, David, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day the Lord rescued him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.^(A) He said:I love You, Lord, my strength.

¹ He said: "I love you, Lord, my strength.

³ The meshes of death encompassed me, The torrents of perdition, made me afraid;

³ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

³ I call upon the Lord, who is ^(H)worthy to be praised,And I am ^(I)saved from my enemies.

³ I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,^(E)and I was saved from my enemies.^(F)

³ I cried out to the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I was delivered from my enemies.

⁵ In my distress, called I on Yahweh, And, unto my God, made outcry for help, He heard, out of his temple, my voice, And my outcry for help came before him - entered into his ears!

⁵ The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

⁹ Then he rode on a cherub, and flew, and darted on the wings of the wind;

⁹ He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

¹¹ Out of the brightness before him, his clouds rolled along, hail, and live coals of fire.

¹¹ He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

¹³ And he sent forth his arrows and scattered them, yea, lightnings, he shot out, and confused them.

¹³ The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

¹³ The Lord also ^(AA)thundered in the heavens,And the Most High uttered His voice,Hailstones and coals of fire.

¹³ The Lord thundered from^(b) heaven;the Most High projected His voice.^(c)(Q)

¹³ Then the LORD thundered in the heavens, and the Most High sounded aloud, calling for hail stones and flashes of fire.

¹⁵ He sent from on high, he took me, - he drew me out of many waters.

¹⁵ Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

¹⁵ Then the ^(AC)channels of water appeared,And the foundations of the world were ⁽ⁱ⁾laid bareAt Your ^(AD)rebuke, O Lord,At the blast of the ^(AE)breath of Your nostrils.

¹⁵ The depths of the sea became visible,the foundations of the world were exposed,at Your rebuke, Lord,at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.^(S)

¹⁵ Then the channels of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were uncovered because of your rebuke, LORD, because of the blast from the breath of your nostrils.

¹⁷ They confronted me, in the day of my necessity, Then became Yahweh my stay:

¹⁷ He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

¹⁷ He ^(AH)delivered me from my strong enemy,And from those who hated me, for they were ^(AI)too mighty for me.

¹⁷ He rescued me from my powerful enemyand from those who hated me,for they were too strong for me.^(U)

¹⁷ He delivered me from my strong enemies, from those who hated me because they were stronger than I.

¹⁹ Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands, he repaid me;

¹⁹ He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

¹⁹ He brought me forth also into a ^(AL)broad place;He rescued me, because ^(AM)He delighted in me.

¹⁹ He brought me out to a spacious place;^(W)He rescued me because He delighted in me.^(X)

²¹ For, all his regulations, were before me, and, his statutes, did I not put from me:

²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

²¹ For I have ^(AP)kept the ways of the Lord,And have ^(AQ)not wickedly departed from my God.

²¹ For I have kept the ways of the Lordand have not turned from my God to wickedness.^(AA)

²¹ because I have kept the ways of the LORD, and I have not wickedly departed from my God;

²³ Yahweh therefore repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the pureness of my hands, before his eyes.

²³ I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.

²³ I was also ^(j)(AT)blameless with Him,And I ^(AU)kept myself from my iniquity.

²³ I was blameless toward Him^(AC)and kept myself from sinning.

²⁵ With the pure, thou didst show thyself pure, But, with the perverse, thou didst show thyself ready to contend.

²⁵ With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

²⁵ With ^(AW)the kind You show Yourself kind;With the ^(k)blameless ^(AX)You show Yourself blameless;

²⁵ With the faithfulYou prove Yourself faithful;with the blameless manYou prove Yourself blameless;

²⁵ To the holy, you show your gracious love, to the upright, you show yourself upright;

²⁷ For, thou, didst light up my lamp, Yahweh my God, enlightened my darkness;

²⁷ For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

²⁷ For You ^(BA)save an afflicted people,But ^(BB)haughty eyes You abase.

²⁷ For You rescue an afflicted people,^(AG)but You humble those with haughty eyes.^(AH)

²⁷ Indeed, you deliver the oppressed, but you bring down those who exalt themselves in their own eyes.

²⁹ As for GOD, blameless is his way, The speech of Yahweh hath been proved, A shield, he is to all who seek refuge in him.

²⁹ For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

²⁹ For by You I can ^(m)(BE)run upon a troop;And by my God I can ^(BF)leap over a wall.

²⁹ With You I can attack a barrier,^(f)and with my God I can leap over a wall.^(AJ)

²⁹ With your help I will run through an army, with help from my God I leap over walls.

³¹ The GOD who girded me with strength, and set forth, as blameless, my way:

³¹ For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

³¹ For ^(BJ)who is God, but the Lord?And who is a ^(BK)rock, except our God,

³¹ For who is God besides Yahweh?^(AN)And who is a rock? Only our God.^(AO)

³¹ For who is God but the LORD, and who is a Rock other than our God?

³³ Teaching my hands to war, - so that a bow of bronze was bent by mine arms.

³³ He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

³³ He ^(BN)makes my feet like hinds’ feet,And ^(BO)sets me upon my high places.

³³ He makes my feet like the feet of a deer^(AQ)and sets me securely on the heights.^(g)(AR)

³³ who makes my feet swift as the deer; who makes me stand on high places;

³⁵ Thou didst widen my stepping-places under me, so that, mine ankles, faltered not.

³⁵ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.

³⁵ You have also given me ^(BR)the shield of Your salvation,And Your ^(BS)right hand upholds me;And ^(BT)Your ^(q)gentleness makes me great.

³⁵ You have given me the shield of Your salvation;Your right hand upholds me,^(AU)and Your humility exalts me.

³⁵ You have given to me the shield of your deliverance, and your right hand holds me up; your gentleness made me great.

³⁷ I crushed them, and they were unable to rise, They fell under my feet.

³⁷ I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

³⁷ I ^(BW)pursued my enemies and overtook them,And I did not turn back ^(BX)until they were consumed.

³⁷ I pursue my enemies and overtake them;I do not turn back until they are wiped out.^(AX)

³⁹ As for my foes, thou didst give me their neck, and, as for them who hated me, I destroyed them.

³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

³⁹ For You have ^(CA)girded me with strength for battle;You have ^(s)(CB)subdued under me those who rose up against me.

³⁹ You have clothed me with strength for battle;^(AZ)You subdue my adversaries beneath me.^(BA)

³⁹ You clothed me with strength for war; you will subdue under me those who rise up against me.

⁴¹ Then did I beat them in pieces, like dust on the face of the wind. Like the mire in the lanes, did I scatter them.

⁴¹ They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

⁴¹ They cried for help, but there was ^(CE)none to save,Even to the Lord, but ^(CF)He did not answer them.

⁴¹ They cry for help, but there is no one to save them^(BD)—they cry to the Lord, but He does not answer them.^(BE)

⁴¹ They cried out for deliverance, but there was no one to deliver; they cried out to the LORD, but he did not answer them.

⁴³ At the hearing of the ear, they submitted to me, the sons of the foreigner, came cringing unto me:

⁴³ Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

⁴³ You have delivered me from the ^(CH)contentions of the people;You have placed me as ^(CI)head of the nations;A ^(CJ)people whom I have not known serve me.

⁴³ You have freed me from the feuds among the people;You have appointed me the head of nations;^(BH)a people I had not known serve me.^(BI)

⁴³ You rescued me from conflict with the people; you made me head of the nations. People who did not know me will serve me.

⁴⁵ Yahweh liveth and, blessed, be my Rock, yea, exalted, be the God of my salvation:

⁴⁵ The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

⁴⁵ Foreigners ^(CL)fade away,And ^(CM)come trembling out of their ^(v)fortresses.

⁴⁵ Foreigners lose heartand come trembling from their fortifications.^(BK)

⁴⁵ Foreigners will wilt away; they will come trembling out of their stronghold.

⁴⁷ Who hath delivered me from my foes, - Yea, from mine assailants, hast thou set me on high, From the man of violence, hast thou rescued me.

⁴⁷ It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

⁴⁷ The God who ^(CQ)executes vengeance for me,And ^(CR)subdues peoples under me.

⁴⁷ God—He gives me vengeance^(BM)and subdues peoples under me.^(BN)

⁴⁷ He is the God who executes vengeance on my behalf; who destroys nations under me;
