the waters pierce through the very stones by little and little, the floods wash away the gravel and the earth. Even so destroyest thou the hope of man in like manner.

My bones are pierced through in the night season, and my sinews take no rest.

His anger tears at me, and He harasses me.
He gnashes His teeth at me.
My enemy pierces me with His eyes.

In His causing His lamp to shine on my head, By His light I walk through darkness.
