the porter lets him in, and the sheep know his voice: he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out to pasture.

when he lets out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: because they know his voice.

but the hireling, who is not the pastor, nor has the property of the sheep, seeing the wolf come, leaves the sheep, and flies away: so the wolf seizes some, and disperses the flock.

I am the true pastor, I know my sheep, and my sheep know me,

then Jesus turned about, and seeing them following, said, what do you seek? they answered him, rabbi, that is to say master, where do you dwell?

who thereupon went to John, and said, master, he that was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bore testimony, he himself does now baptize likewise, and the people flock to him.

In the mean while his disciples invited him, saying, pray master, eat.

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, master, when did you arrive here?

they said to him, master, this woman was actually taken in adultery.

and his disciples propos'd to him this question, master, was it for his own sins, or for the sins of his parents, that he was born blind?

upon which his disciples said, master, it is not long since the Jews attempted to stone you; and are you for going thither again?

When she had said this, she went privately to call Mary her sister, saying, the master is come, and calls for you.

you call me master, and lord: and you are in the right; for so I am.

if I then, tho' lord and master, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.

henceforth I do not treat you as servants; for the servant is unacquainted with his master's affairs: but I have treated you as friends; for what I have learnt of my father, I have communicated to you.

remember what I told you, "the servant is not greater than his master." if they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have been spies upon my discourse, they will be so upon yours.

that is to say, master! Jesus said to her, touch me not: for I am not yet ascended to my father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, "I ascend unto my father and your father, even my God and your God."
