John came, who was immersing in the wilderness, and preaching the immersion of repentance unto remission of sins.

And they told Him, saying, 'John the Immerser;' and others, 'Elijah;' but others, 'One of the prophets.'"
And after six days Jesus taketh with Him Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them.
John said to Him, "Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in Thy name; and we forbade him, because he was not following us."
And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come to Him, saying to Him, "Teacher, we wish that Thou wouldest do for us whatsoever we ask."

These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was immersing.

Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard it from John, and followed Him.

So, when they breakfasted, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He says to Him, "Yea, Lord, Thou knowest that I fondly love Thee." He saith to him, "Feed My lambs."
