Forasmuch as thou art sent by the king, and by his seven counselors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand;

And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counselors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the free-will-offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:

That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

And whatever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure-house.

Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:

And weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:

Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king Ahasuerus.

And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives will give to their husbands honor, both to great and small.

Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.

Write ye also for the Jews, as it pleaseth you, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, no man may reverse.

Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day of it; and it was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded, to the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India to Cush, a hundred twenty and seven provinces, to every province according to the writing of it, and to every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

Can that which is unsavory be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and in which the snow is hid:

Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?

And that he would show thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thy iniquity deserveth.

The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches with which he can do no good?

What knowest thou that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

I will show thee, hear me; and that which I have seen, I will declare;

Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.

The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice in it.

Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.

Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.

Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.

Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say to me.

In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in the day-time: they know not the light.

Though it is given him to be in safety, on which he resteth; yet his eyes are upon their ways.

I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.

This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.

There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vultur's eye hath not seen:

Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.

He looketh upon men, and if any shall say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table would be full of fatness.

Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.

Which the clouds do drop and distill upon man abundantly.

God thundereth marvelously with his voice; great things he doeth, which we cannot comprehend.

Hast thou with him spread out the sky which is strong, and as a molten looking-glass?

And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
