Josnt of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
Pilate marveled that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if he was already dead.
And when he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the body to Joseph.
Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.
Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, though it was very large, had been rolled away.
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
And when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.
So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.
Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,
And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.
And the angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news.
And when his time of service was completed, he went to his home.
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
But she was greatly troubled at his saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be.
And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord."
And immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, praising God.
and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, "What then will this child be?" For the hand of the Lord was with him.
Now his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:
And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness till the day of his manifestation to Israel.
This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.

And when he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom.
And when the feast was over, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it,
Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them, but his mother kept all these things in her heart.
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was also baptized. And as he was praying, the heaven was opened

But I tell you truly, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land;
but Elijah was sent to none of them except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha; and not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian."
And they rose up and cast him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down the cliff.
Then he went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and he was teaching them on the Sabbath.
And they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.
And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice,
And he arose and left the synagogue, and entered Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they made request of him on her behalf.
When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.
And demons also came out of many, crying, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
Now when it was day, he departed and went into a deserted place. And the people sought him and came to him, and tried to keep him from leaving them;
but he said to them, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because I was sent for this purpose."
Now as the people pressed around him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
Then he got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
While he was in one of the cities, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
One day as he was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal.
Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they sought to bring him in and lay him before Jesus.
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"he said to the man who was paralyzed "I say to you, rise, take up your bed and go home."
One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grain fields, and his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands.
Jesus answered them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him:
On another Sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught, and a man was there whose right hand was withered.
And he looked around at them all, and said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand was restored.
And when it was day, he called his disciples to himself; and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:
Matthew, and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot,
he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it was well built.
But he who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."
A centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.
And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.
As he came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.
And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that Jesus was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of perfume,
"A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.
And it was told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you."
And they went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" Then he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; and they ceased, and there was a calm.
For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For many times it had seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.
Now a large herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; and they begged him to let them enter them. So he gave them permission.
Those who had seen it told them how he who had been demon-possessed was healed.
And behold, there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus' feet and begged him to come to his house,
for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went, the people pressed round him.
When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.
While he was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue's house and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more."
