Then He *said to the man, “Stretch out your hand!” He stretched it out, and it was restored to normal, like the other.

And knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand.

But He answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet;

Someone said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You.”

But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”

And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers!

And large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;

And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”

Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.

The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’

And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves *said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’

But he *said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.

He presented another parable to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;

Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”

and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away.

“Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.”

And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

He came to His hometown and began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”

and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

Having been prompted by her mother, she *said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”

When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!”

They *said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,

Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away.

When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear.

And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Then some Pharisees and scribes *came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,

And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?

After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand.

Then the disciples *came and *said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?”

But He answered and said, Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.

And He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

But she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”

The disciples *said to Him, “Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?”

And Jesus *said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”

And He directed the people to sit down on the ground;

And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread.

And Jesus said to them, “Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.”

But Jesus, aware of this, said, You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread?

And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

He *said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.”

And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things;

And while they were gathering together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men;

When they came to Capernaum, those who collected the two-drachma tax came to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the two-drachma tax?”

He *said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?”

When Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are exempt.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

And He called a child to Himself and set him before them,

Then summoning him, his lord *said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.

They *said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give her a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

But He said to them, Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given.

And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?”

Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness;
