And she had her first son; and folding him in linen, she put him to rest in the place where the cattle had their food, because there was no room for them in the house.
And when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the keepers of the sheep said to one another, Let us go now to Beth-lehem, and see this thing which has come about, which the Lord has made clear to us.
And they came quickly, and saw Mary and Joseph, and the child in the place where the cattle had their food.
And when they saw it, they gave them an account of the things which had been said to them about the child.
And all who heard [it] were astonished concerning what had been said to them by the shepherds.
but Mary treasured up all they had said, and pondered over it.
Then the keepers of the sheep went back, giving glory and praise to God for all the things which had come to their ears and which they had seen, as it had been said to them.
And when, after eight days, the time came for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name which the angel had given to him before his birth.
And when the necessary days for making them clean by the law of Moses had come to an end, they took him to Jerusalem to give him to the Lord
And he had knowledge, through the Holy Spirit, that he would not see death till he had seen the Lord's Christ.
And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel of the tribe of Asher: which was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity.
She had been a widow for eighty-four years); she was in the Temple at all times, worshipping with prayers and going without food, night and day.
And when they had done all the things which were ordered by the law of the Lord, they went back to Galilee, to Nazareth, the town where they were living.
And when the days of the feast came to an end and they were going back, the boy Jesus was still in Jerusalem, but they had no knowledge of it:
For they supposed he had been in the company, and therefore came a day's journey, and sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
And he said to them, Why is it that ye were seeking me? Had ye not known that I must be among the things of my Father?

But Herod the king, because John had made a protest on account of Herodias, his brother's wife, and other evil things which Herod had done,
Did this most evil thing of all, and had John shut up in prison.
Now it came about that when all the people had been given baptism, Jesus, having had baptism with them, was in prayer, when, the heaven being open,
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River [i.e., where He had been immersed. See 3:21] and was led by the Holy Spirit [See Matt. 4:1] into the desert.
For forty days, being tested by the Evil One. And he had no food in those days; and when they came to an end, he was in need of food.
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and had him stand on the highest point of the temple and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
And [when] the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until a favorable time.
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been as a child, and he went, as his way was, into the Synagogue on the Sabbath, and got up to give a reading.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place, where it was written,
And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.
he undertook to show them, how the passage they had heard, was actually then accomplished.
I assure you, though there were many widows in Israel, when the heaven had furnished no rain for three years and a half, and a great famine spread through all the land:
When they had heard these words, those in the synagogue were filled with fury;
And having risen up, they thrust him outside of the city, and brought him as far as the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw him down headlong.
They were astonished at His teaching because His message had authority.
And there was a man in the Synagogue who had an unclean spirit; and he gave a loud cry and said,
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt.
And He rose up and went out of the synagogue, and came into the house of Simon: now Simon's wife's mother had a violent fever, and they intreated Him on her behalf.
And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
And evil spirits came out of a number of them, crying out and saying, You are the Son of God. But he gave them sharp orders not to say a word, because they had knowledge that he was the Christ.
and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking;
For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken;
which they had taken, And in like manner also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him.
And it fortuned as he was in a certain city, behold, there was a man full of leprosy: and when he had spied Jesus, he fell on his face and besought him saying, "Lord if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean."
But the news about what Jesus had done spread all the more widely, so that large crowds assembled to listen to Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
And it came about that on one of these days he was teaching; and some Pharisees and teachers of the law were seated there, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judaea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was with him, to make those who were ill free from their diseases.
And some men had with them, on a bed, a man who was ill, without power of moving; and they made attempts to get him in and put him before Jesus.
But Jesus, who had knowledge of their thoughts, said to them, Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
And immediately he stood up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, [and] went away to his home, glorifying God.
And no man, having had old wine, has any desire for new, for he says, The old is better.
On another sabbath-day it happen'd, that he went into the synagogue to preach, where a man was present, who had the palsy in his right hand.
But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
Then, looking round at them all, he said to the man: "Stretch out your hand." The man did so; and his hand had become sound.
These were Simon, to whom also He had given the name of Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;
Then He came down with them and took His stand on a level place, where there was a great throng of His disciples and a vast crowd of people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and the seacoast district of Tyre and Sidon, who had come to hear Him and to be cured of their diseases.
who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured.
"But how terrible it will be for you who are rich, because you have had your comfort!
he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: because it had been well builded.
After he had ended all his sayings in the ears of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
And a certain captain had a servant who was very dear to him; this servant was ill and near to death.
And I had the feeling that I was not even good enough to come to you: but say the word only, and my servant will be well.
And [when they] returned to the house, those who had been sent found the slave healthy.
And as he approached the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, his mother's only son, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.
And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
The man who had been dead sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
And the report of what Jesus had done spread through the whole of Judaea and in all the surrounding districts.
When the men had come to him, they said, John the Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
At that time Jesus had healed many people of diseases, plagues, and evil spirits, and had given sight to many who were blind.
And answering them he said, Go back and give news to John of what you have seen, and the things which have come to your ears; the blind now see, those who had no power in their legs are walking, lepers are made clean, those who had no hearing now have their ears open, dead men come to life again, and the poor have the good news given to them.
And when the men who were sent by John had gone away, he said to the people, about John, What did you go out into the waste land to see? a tall stem moving in the wind?
(And all the people, and the tax-farmers, to whom John had given baptism, when they had knowledge of these things, gave glory to God.
But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were against the purpose of God for themselves, not having had his baptism.)
And there was a woman in the town who was a sinner; and when she had news that he was a guest in the Pharisee's house, she took a bottle of perfume,
Now when the Pharisee that had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him, that she is a sinner.
A certain lender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred shillings, and the other fifty.
When they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?
I think, said Simon, he that had the greatest debt remitted to him. you are in the right, said Jesus.
Then Jesus turned to the woman [who had just poured the perfume on Him] and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house and you did not give me any water for [washing] my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them dry with her hair.
and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary that was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
and Joanna, the wife of Chuzas, Herod's property manager, and Susanna and many others. These [all] had provided the material support for the group from their own means.
And when many people were collected, and had come to him out of every city, he spoke by a parable:
And other fell on the rock; and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture.
And some went among thorns, and the thorns came up with it and it had no room for growth.
And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bore fruit a hundred-fold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And when he was come forth upon the land, there met him a certain man out of the city, who had demons; and for a long time he had worn no clothes, and abode not in any house, but in the tombs.
For he was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the demon into the deserts.
So Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion," because many demons had entered into him.
He answered, "Legion," because many demons had gone into him. Then the demons began begging Jesus not to order them to go into the bottomless pit.
And when they that fed them saw what had come to pass, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.
And they went out to see what had come to pass; and they came to Jesus, and found the man, from whom the demons were gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus: and they were afraid.
And those who had seen [it] reported to them how the man who had been demon-possessed had been healed.
And all the people of the surrounding region of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, because they had been seized with great fear. So he got into the boat [and] returned.
And the man from who the demons had gone out was begging him to stay with him, but he sent him away, saying,
Return to thy house, and declare how great things God hath done for thee. And he went his way, publishing throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done for him.
And it came to pass, that, when Jesus had returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.
Just then a man named Jairus came up, who had long been leader of the synagogue. He fell down at Jesus' feet and persisted in begging Him to come to his house,
for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went the multitudes thronged him.
And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed of any,
