And Pilate, desiring to do what was pleasing to the people, let Barabbas go free, and gave up Jesus, when he had been whipped, to be put to death on the cross.
and they array him in purple, and set upon him, when they have plaited it; a crown of thorns, -
And when they had made sport of him, they took the purple robe off him and put his clothing on him. And they took him out to put him to death on the cross.
And they brought him to the place Golgotha, which is, when translated, the place of a skull.
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what every man should have.
And it was the third hour when they put him on the cross.
And when the sixth hour had come, it was dark over all the land till the ninth hour.
And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani? which is, when translated, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
And some of the bystanders, [when they] heard [it], said, "Behold, he is summoning Elijah!"
And when the captain, who was near, saw how he gave up his spirit, he said, Truly this man was a son of God.
Who went with him when he was in Galilee and took care of him; and a number of other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
And when it was evening, because it was the time of getting ready, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
And when he had news of it from the captain, he let Joseph have the body.
And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James, and Salome, got spices, so that they might come and put them on him.
And early in the morning, the next day after the Sabbath day, they came unto the sepulchre when the sun was risen.
And [when they] looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away (for it was very large).
And when they went in, they saw a young man seated on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were full of wonder.
Now when he came back from the dead early on the first day of the week, he went first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had sent out seven evil spirits.
And they, when it came to their ears that he was living, and had been seen by her, had no belief in it.
Still later he appeared to the Eleven themselves when they were at table, and reproached them for their obstinacy and want of faith, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead.
So then when the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received into heaven, and is set down on the righthand of God.
In the days when Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest whose name was Zechariah, who belonged to the division of Abijah. His wife was also a descendant of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
Once when he was acting as priest before God, when his division was on duty, it fell to his lot,
According to the custom of the priests' office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
And the entire congregation of people was praying outside at the time when the incense was burned.
when there appear'd to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the incense-altar.
And Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear came on him.
And you will have joy and happiness and many people will rejoice when he is born.
Now, see, you will be without voice or language till the day when these things come about, because you had not faith in my words, which will have effect at the right time.
And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and began to wonder [when] he was delayed in the temple.

when the angel said to her. "Fear not Mary, for you have found grace with God.
Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, when I have no husband?"
And when the voice of Mary came to the ears of Elisabeth, the baby made a sudden move inside her; then Elisabeth was full of the Holy Spirit,
For, truly, when the sound of your voice came to my ears, the baby in my body made a sudden move for joy.
When Elizabeth had gone her full time, she was delivered of a son.
When her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had extended great mercy toward her [i.e., in giving her a child], they rejoiced with her.
When they came to circumcise the child on the eighth day,
when his mother said, "No, he is to be called John."
And the child became tall, and strong in spirit; and he was living in the waste land till the day when he came before the eyes of Israel.

and [when they] did not find [him], they returned to Jerusalem to search for him.
And when they saw him they were surprised, and his mother said to him, Son, why have you done this to us? see, your father and I have been looking for you with sorrow.
But they did not understand what He meant when He said that to them.
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, [when] Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,
When Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of the Lord came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the waste land.
And when some soldiers on active service asked "And we--what are we to do?" he said: "Never use violence, or exact anything by false accusation; and be content with your pay."
Now when the people were in expectation, and many reasoned in their hearts respecting John, whether he were the Messiah,
Then Herod the Tetrarch; when he was rebuked of him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done;
Now it came about that when all the people had been given baptism, Jesus, having had baptism with them, was in prayer, when, the heaven being open,
And Jesus, [when he] began [his ministry], was himself about thirty years [old], being the son (as it was believed) of Joseph the [son] of Eli,
For forty days, being tested by the Evil One. And he had no food in those days; and when they came to an end, he was in need of food.
And when all these tests were ended the Evil One went away from him for a time.
Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been raised. As was his custom, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. When he stood up to read,
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place, where it was written,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's acceptance [i.e., the time when people would become His obedient followers]."
And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.
Truly I say to you, There were a number of widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months and there was no food in the land;
And all who were in the Synagogue were very angry when these things were said to them.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt.
When Jesus came out of the synagogue, he went to Simon's house, whose mother-in-law was seized with a violent fever, and they desired him to relieve her.
And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them.
And when the people were pressing on Him to hear the word of God, as He stood by the lake of Gennesareth, seeing two vessels at the edge of the lake,
And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking;
So, they motioned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. When they came, they filled both boats until they began to sink.
But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him.
And it came to pass, while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy: and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
At another time, as he was teaching, it happened that some Pharisees, and doctors of the law were sitting by, who came from the several towns of Galilee and Judea, and from Jerusalem: when the power of the Lord appear'd in their relief.
And [when they] did not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof [and] let him down through the roof tiles with the stretcher into the midst [of them], in front of Jesus.
And [when he] saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you."
When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered and said unto them, "What think ye in your hearts?
And Jesus said, Are you able to make the friends of the newly-married man go without food when he is with them?
But the days will come; and when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then will they fast in those days.
And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he, and they that were with him;
And it happened on another Sabbath day, when Jesus entered the synagogue to teach, that a man was there whose right hand was deformed.
Then He looked around at all of them [there] and said to the man, "Reach out your hand." And [when] he did this, his hand was restored [to normal use].
And when it was day, he called his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles:
Those of you who now have an appetite [i.e., for doing what is right] are blessed, because you will be satisfied [eventually]. Those of you who cry now [i.e., over your sins] are blessed, because you will laugh [i.e., when you are forgiven later].
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company , and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
Be glad when that happens, and leap for joy, for you will be richly rewarded in heaven, for that is the way their forefathers treated the prophets.
Woe unto you , when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets.
Whoever hits you on one side of the face, allow him [to hit you on] the other side also; and when someone takes away your coat, do not stop him from also taking away your shirt [i.e., if he insists on it].
Give to every one who asks of you; and, when any one takes away what is yours, do not demand its return.
