But Jesus turning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they divided his garments and cast lots.
Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." And having said this, he breathed his last.
Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God, and said, "Certainly this was a righteous man!"
And as they were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead?
And he said to them, "What is this conversation which you are exchanging with each other as you walk?" And they stood still, looking sad.
And he said to them, "What things?" And they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
and when they did not find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said he was alive.
Some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women had said; but him they did not see."
And he said to them, "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
And they said to each other, "Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?"
As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."
And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your hearts?
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.
And while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?"
Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled."
And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,

He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as the prophet Isaiah said."
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who ranks before me, for he was before me.'
I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'
And he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"
Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
He said to them, "Come and see." They came and saw where he was staying; and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means the Christ).
He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter).
The next day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee. And he found Philip and said to him, "Follow me."
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"
Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."
Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these."
And he said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."
When the wine was gone, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine."
Jesus said to her, "Woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come."
His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
Jesus said to them, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim.

The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?
The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw."
Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here."
The woman answered, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband';
for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly."
The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When he comes, he will tell us all things."
Just then his disciples came. And they marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, "What do you wish?" or, "Why are you talking with her?"
Then the woman left her water jar, and went away into the city, and said to the people,
But he said to them, "I have food to eat of which you do not know."
So the disciples said to one another, "Has any one brought him food?"
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work.
They said to the woman, "We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man is indeed the Savior of the world."
Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe."
The official said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies."
Jesus said to him, "Go; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way.
So he inquired of them the hour when his son got better, and they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."
So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." And he himself believed, and all his household.
When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been in this condition for a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be made well?"
Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed, and walk."
So the Jews said to the man who was cured, "It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed."
But he answered them, "The man who made me well said to me, 'Take up your bed, and walk.'"
They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take up your bed, and walk'?"
Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you are well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse may happen to you."
Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, the Son also does.
Then Jesus lifted up his eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these people may eat?"
But this he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him,
Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place; so the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
And when they had eaten their fill, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the fragments left over, that nothing may be lost."
When the people saw the sign that Jesus did, they said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?"
