And he said unto him, Well done, thou good slave; because thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt have authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy mina has made five minas. And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy mina, which I have kept laid up in a napkin, for I feared thee because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou didst not lay down and dost reap that which thou didst not sow. Then he said unto him, Out of thine own mouth I will judge thee, thou wicked slave. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping that which I did not sow; why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required my own with interest? And he said unto those that stood by, Take from him the mina and give it to him that has the ten minas. (And they said unto him, Lord, he has ten minas.) Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun, but if a man lives many years and rejoices in them all; yet if afterwards he remembers the days of darkness, for they shall be many, he shall say that everything that shall have happened to him is vanity.
For the grave shall not confess thee, nor shall death praise thee; nor shall those that go down into the pit wait for thy truth. He who lives, he who lives, even he shall confess thee, as I do this day; the father to the sons shall make known thy truth.

But and if that evil slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming, and shall begin to smite his fellowslaves and even to eat and drink with the drunken, the lord of that slave shall come in a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of and shall cut him off and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
