In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they abuse you;

when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become, and are now, as the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, depravity. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,

Why not say as we are being slanderously reported as saying and as some claim that we say "Let us do evil that good may come"? Their condemnation is just.

through glory and dishonor, evil report and good report; true, yet regarded as impostors;

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

Therefore, put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

and keep a clear conscience, so that, when you are abused, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

Maintain good conduct among the Gentiles, so that in case they speak against you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

For, "He who would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornications, theft, false witness, slander.

The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
