17 Bible Verses about Labor

That fiftieth year will be your jubilee year. Do not plant or harvest what grows by itself or pick grapes from the vines in the land.

But the seventh year is to be a sabbath year of complete rest for the land. It is a year dedicated to Jehovah. Do not plant your fields or prune your vineyards. Do not even harvest the grain that grows by itself without being planted. Do not gather the grapes from your unpruned vines. It is a year of complete rest for the land.

He who tills his land will have plenty of bread. He who follows worthless people lacks sense.

No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people. Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me. I am meek (mild) and humble in heart. You will have a restful life, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and mind your own business, and work with your hands, as we command you. That way you may walk honestly in the eyes of those on the outside and lack nothing.

He that steals must steal no more. Let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to someone in need.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and unmovable. Always have plenty to do in the work of the Lord, for you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Jesus went to all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the good news of the kingdom. He healed every sort of disease and every sort of infirmity. When he saw the large crowds of people, he was moved with compassion for them. He knew they were distressed and scattered like sheep not having a shepherd. Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers into his harvest.

Do not exhaust yourself to get rich. Be wise and show restraint.

Jesus said: Truly I tell you, you seek me not because you saw miracles but because you ate of the loaves and were full. Do not work for food that perishes but for food that offers everlasting life. The Son of man will give you this food. The Father, even God, has set his seal upon him.

According to the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let every man take heed how he builds. We did not eat anyone's food without paying for it. Instead, we worked hard and struggled night and day in order not to be a burden to any of you.

It is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

Curse those who do not do Jehovah's work with all their heart! Curse those who do not slash and kill!

The labor of the righteous leads to life. The yield of the wicked is punishment.

The desire of the lazy killed him for his hands refuse to work.

In all labor there is profit: but idle chatter leads only to destitution.

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. The deeds of a man's hands will return to him.

([Psalm of Solomon]) If Jehovah does not build the house, it is vain for the builders to work on it. If Jehovah does not protect a city, it is vain for the guard to stay alert.

Jesus answered: This is the work of God, that you have an active faith in the one whom he has sent.

King Solomon used forced labor to build the Temple and the palace, to fill in land on the east side of the city, and to build the city wall. He also used it to rebuild the cities of Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.

Their descendants continue to be slaves down to the present time.

King Solomon drafted thirty thousand men as forced labor from all over Israel.
