'Time' in the Bible
Where is the wise man (philosopher)? Where is the scribe (scholar)? Where is the debater (logician, orator) of this age? Has God not exposed the foolishness of this world’s wisdom?
I planted and Apollos watered; but it was God who was, all the time, giving the increase.
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
But I will come to you in a short time, if it is pleasing to the Lord, and I will take note, not of the word of those who are full of pride, but of the power.
Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
Was anyone at the time of his calling [from God already] circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called while uncircumcised? He is not to be circumcised.
But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
A wife hath been bound by law as long time as her husband may live, and if her husband may sleep, she is free to be married to whom she will -- only in the Lord;
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
It is not possible for you, at the same time, to take the cup of the Lord and the cup of evil spirits; you may not take part in the table of the Lord and the table of evil spirits.
For when it is time to eat, everyone proceeds with his own supper. One is hungry and another becomes drunk.
In the same way, he also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, every time you drink it, in remembrance of me."
For every time you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
Now though it is my desire for you all to have the power of tongues, it would give me more pleasure to be hearing the prophet's word from you; for this is a greater thing than using tongues, if the sense is not given at the same time, for the good of the church.
For this reason, let the man who has the power of using tongues make request that he may, at the same time, be able to give the sense.
Therefore, if the whole church comes together at the same [time] and all speak with tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds?
If anyone speaks in a foreign language, only two or three at the most should do so, one at a time, and somebody must interpret.
Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time;most of them are still alive,but some have fallen asleep.
And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
You fool! Every time you plant seed you sow something that does not come to life [germinating, springing up and growing] unless it first dies.
On the first [day] of the week, each one of you {put aside} [something], saving up {to whatever extent he has prospered}, in order that whenever I come, at that time collections do not take place.
But I may be with you for a time, or even for the winter, so that you may see me on my way, wherever I go.
I don’t want to see you now just in passing, for I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.
I shall remain in Ephesus, however, until the time of the Harvest Festival,
As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.
