First, indeed, I give thanks unto my God, through Jesus Christ, concerning you all, because your faith is being announced throughout the whole world.
I am not ashamed of the good news [i.e., the Gospel], because it is God's power for [bringing] salvation to every person who believes [in Jesus]; first to Jews and then to Greeks [i.e., unconverted Gentiles].
For the Gospel reveals how a person can be made right with God. It is through faith [in Jesus], from beginning to end, just as it is written [Hab. 2:4], "The righteous person will [obtain] life by [his] faith [in God]."
in the day when God shall judge the secret works of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
and they show the work of the law written in their minds, their consciences testifying with them, and their judgments mutually acusing or defending one another;??16 in the day when God shall judge the secret [doings] of men according to my gospel through Jesus Christ.
In the day on which God judgeth the secrets of men according to my glad-message through Christ Jesus.
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Being declared righteous freely by his favour through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: -
For God showed him publicly dying as a sacrifice of reconciliation to be taken advantage of through faith. This was to vindicate his own justice (for in his forbearance, God passed over men's former sins)??26 to vindicate his justice at the present time, and show that he is upright himself, and that he makes those who have faith in Jesus upright also.
In the forbearance of God, - with a view to a showing forth of his righteousness in the present season, that he might be righteous even when declaring righteous him that hath faith in Jesus.
But for our sakes also - unto whom it is to be reckoned, - even unto them that believe upon him who raised Jesus our Lord from among the dead:
[This] Jesus was delivered up [to die] for our sins and was raised [from the dead] to make us right with God.
Having, therefore, been declared righteous by faith, let us have, peace, towards God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, -
Through Jesus we have also gained access by [our] faith to this unearned favor [of God]. We stand firm in it, and are glad that we have the hope of being honored by God.
And, not only, so, but are even boasting in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, - through whom, now, the reconciliation we have received.
Yet [physical] death ruled [over mankind] from the time of Adam to Moses, even over those people who had not sinned the way Adam did. [Now] Adam prefigured the coming of Jesus.
But, not as the fault, so, alsothe decree of favour, for, if, by the fault of the one, the many died, much more, the favour of God and the free-gift in favour, by the one man Jesus Christ, unto the many superabounded;
For, if, by the fault of the one, death reigned through the one, much more, they who the superabundance of the favour and of the free-gift ofthe righteousness do receive, in life, shall reign through the one, Jesus Christ.
In order that - just as sin reigned in death, so, also, favour, might reign through righteousness unto life age-abiding, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Or know ye not that, we, as many as were immersed into Christ Jesus, into his death were immersed?
So, ye also, be reckoning yourselves to be - dead indeed unto sin, but, alive unto God in Christ Jesus.
For, the wages of sin, is death; but, God's gift of favour, is life age-abiding, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Butthanks be unto God! - Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Hence, then, - I myself, with the mind, indeed, am in servitude unto a law of God; but; with the flesh; unto a law of sin.
Hence there is now, no, condemnation unto them who are in Christ Jesus;
For, the-law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus, hath set thee free from the law of sin and of death; -
If, moreover, the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from among the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised from among the dead Christ Jesus, shall make alive evenyour death-doomed bodies, through means of his indwelling Spirit within you.
God did not withhold His own Son [from dying], but offered Him up for all of us. [Since He did that], will He not, along with Jesus, freely give us everything [else] also?
Christ Jesus is the One who died,
but even more, has been raised;
He also is at the right hand of God
and intercedes for us.
Nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
bring up Christ from the dead)" but what saith it? "The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart." This is the word of faith which we preach: that if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
That, if thou shalt confess the declaration with thy mouth - That Jesus is, Lord, and shalt believe with thy hear - That, God, raised him from among the dead, thou shalt be saved; -
For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, because the same Lord Jesus is all over, and is rich unto all who call upon Him;
I say then, did the Jews trip [over Jesus] just so they could fall [away from God]? Certainly not! [There was another reason]: Instead, it was by means of their sin that salvation was made available to the Gentiles, so that the Jews might become jealous of them [i.e., causing them to want what the Gentiles now had].
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not give thought to the flesh to do its desires.
I am conscious of this, and am certain in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself; but for the man in whose opinion it is unclean, for him it is unclean.
Now may the God who gives comfort and strength in waiting make you of the same mind with one another in harmony with Christ Jesus:
So that with one mouth you may give glory to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
Still I have written unto you the more boldly, in part, by way of reminding you, because of that gift of grace which God bestowed upon me, in making me a priest of Jesus Christ unto the Gentiles.
To be a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, doing the work of a priest in the good news of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles might be pleasing to God, being made holy by the Holy Spirit.
So I have pride in Christ Jesus in the things which are God's.
Now I make request to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that you will be working together with me in your prayers to God for me;
Give my love to Prisca and Aquila, workers with me in Christ Jesus,
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
And the God of peace will be crushing Satan under your feet before long. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Now to him who is able to make you strong in agreement with the good news which I gave you and the preaching of Jesus Christ, in the light of the revelation of that secret which has been kept through times eternal,
and at the command of the eternal God made known through the writings of the prophets to all the heathen, to lead them to obedience and faith??27 to the one wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ. Amen.
To the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory for ever. So be it.

And behold, one of them which were with Jesus, stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, "Put up thy sword into his sheath. For all they that lay hands on the sword, shall perish with the sword. Either thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my father, and he shall give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the scriptures be fulfilled? For so must it be." The same time said Jesus to the multitude, "Ye be come out as it were unto a thief, with swords and staves for to take me: daily I sat among you teaching in the temple, and ye took me not. All this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook him and fled. And they took Jesus and led him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. And Peter followed him afar off, unto the high priest's place: and went in, and sat with the servants to see the end. The chief priests, and the elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, for to put him to death, but found none: insomuch that when many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, and said, "This fellow said, I can destroy the temple of God, and build the it again in three days." And the chief priest arose, and said to him, "Answerest thou nothing? How is it that these bear witness against thee?" But Jesus held his peace. And the chief priest answered, and said to him, "I charge thee in the name of the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be Christ the son of God." Jesus said to him, "Thou hast said. Nevertheless I say unto you, hereafter shall ye see the son of man sitting on the righthand of power, and come in the clouds of the sky." Then the high priest rent his clothes saying, "He hath blasphemed: what need we of any more witnesses? Behold, now have ye heard his blasphemy: What think ye?" They answered and said, "He is worthy to die." Then spat they in his face, and buffeted him with their fists. And others smote him with the palm of their hands on the face, saying, "Tell us, thou Christ, who is he that smote thee?" Peter sat without in the palace, and a damsel came to him, saying, "Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee." But he denied before them all saying, "I know not what thou sayest." When he was gone out into the porch, another wench saw him, and said unto them that were there, "This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth." And again he denied with an oath that he knew the man. And after a while, came unto him they that stood by, and said unto Peter, "Surely thou art even one of them, for thy speech betrayeth thee." Then began he to curse and to swear, that he knew not the man. And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the words of Jesus, which he said unto him, "Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice": and went out at the doors and wept bitterly.
And they laid their hands on him, and took him. And one of them that stood by drew out a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Ye be come out as unto a thief with swords and with staves for to take me? I was daily with you in the temple, teaching, and ye took me not: but that the scriptures should be fulfilled." And they all forsook him and ran away. And there was a certain young man that followed him clothed in linen upon the bare, and the young men caught him, and he left his linen and fled from them naked. And they led Jesus away to the highest priest of all, and to him came all the high priests and the elders, and the scribes. And Peter followed him a great way off, even into the palace of the high priest, and he was there and sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. And the high priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus, to put him to death; And they found none. Yet many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. And there arose certain and brought false witness against him, saying, "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another, made without hands.'" But their witness agreed not together. And the highest priest stood up amongst them all, and asked Jesus saying, "Answerest thou nothing? How is it that these bear witness against thee?" And he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the highest priest asked him, and said unto him, "Art thou the Christ, the son of the blessed?" And Jesus said, "I am. And ye shall see the son of man sit on the righthand of power, and come in the clouds of heaven." Then the highest priest rent his clothes and said, "What need we any further of witness? Ye have heard the blasphemy, what think ye?" And they all gave sentence that he was worthy of death. And some began to spit at him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with their fists, and to say unto him, "Aread unto us." And the servants buffeted him on the face. And Peter was beneath in the palace, and there came one of the wenches of the highest priest; And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked on him, and said, "Was not thou also with Jesus of Nazareth?" And he denied it, saying, "I know him not, neither know I what thou sayest." And he went out into the porch, and the cock crew. And a damsel saw him, and again began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. And he denied it again. And anon after, they that stood by, said again to Peter, "Surely thou art one of them, for thou art of Galilee, and thy speech agreeth thereto." And he began to curse and to swear, saying, "I know not this man of whom ye speak." And again the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus said unto him. "Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice," and began to weep.
And one of them smote a servant of him which was the highest priest of all, and smote off his right ear. And Jesus answered, and said, "Suffer ye thus far forth." And he touched his ear, and healed him. Then Jesus said unto the high priests and rulers of the temple and the elders which were come to him, "Be ye come out, as unto a thief: with swords and staves? When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched not forth hands against me. But this is even your very hour, and the power of darkness." Then took they him, and led him, and brought him to the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off. When they had kindled a fire in the midst of the palace, and were set down together, Peter also sat down among them. And one of the wenches, as he sat, beheld him by the fire and set good eyesight on him, and said, "This same was also with him." Then he denied him, saying, "Woman I know him not." And after a little while, another saw him and said, "Thou art also of them." And Peter said, "Man I am not." And about the space of a hour after, another affirmed, saying, "Verily even this fellow was with him, for he is of Galilee." And Peter said, "Man, I know not what thou sayest." And immediately while he yet spake, the cock crew. And the Lord turned back and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the words of the Lord, how he said unto him, "Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice." And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. And the men that stood about Jesus, mocked him, and smote him, and blindfolded him, and smote his face. And asked him, saying, "Aread who it is that smote thee?" And many other things despitefully said they against him. And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people, and the high priests and scribes, came together, and led him into their council saying, "Art thou very Christ? Tell us." And he said unto them, "If I shall tell you, ye will not believe. And if also I ask you, ye will not answer me, or let me go. Hereafter shall the son of man sit on the righthand of the power of God." Then said they all, "Art thou then the son of God?" He said to them, "Ye say that I am." Then said they, "What need we any further witness? We ourselves have heard of his own mouth."
But as soon as he had said unto them, "I am he," they went backwards and fell to the ground. And he asked them again, "Whom seek ye?" They said, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus answered, "I said unto you, I am he. If ye seek me, let these go their way." That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, "Of them which thou gavest me have I not lost one." Simon Peter had a sword, and drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, "Put up thy sword into the sheath: shall I not drink of the cup which my father hath given me?" Then the company, and the Captain, and the ministers of the Jews, took Jesus and bound him, and led him away to Annas, first: For he was father-in-law unto Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. Caiphas was he that gave counsel to the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and another disciple: that disciple was known of the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest. But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple which was known unto the high priest, and spake to the damsel that kept the door, and brought in Peter. Then said the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, "Art not thou one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not." The servants and the ministers stood there, and had made a fire of coals. For it was cold, and they warmed themselves. Peter also stood among them and warmed himself. The high priest asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. Jesus answered him, "I spake openly in the world. I ever taught in the synagogue and in the temple whither all the Jews resorted: and in secret have I said nothing: why askest thou me? Ask them which heard me, what I said unto them. Behold they can tell what I said." When he had thus spoken, one of the ministers which stood by, smote Jesus on the face saying, "Answerest thou the high priest so?" Jesus answered him, "If I have evil spoken, bear witness of the evil: if I have well spoken, why smitest thou me?" And Annas sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest. Simon Peter stood and warmed himself, and they said unto him, "Art not thou also one of his disciples?" He denied it, and said, "I am not." One of the servants of the high priest, his cousin whose ear Peter smote off, said unto him, "Did not I see thee in the garden with him?" Peter denied it again: and immediately the cock crew. Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas into the hall of judgment. It was in the morning, and they themselves went not into the judgment hall lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the paschal lamb. Pilate then went out unto them and said, "What accusation bring ye against this man?" They answered, and said unto him, "If he were not an evil doer, we would not have delivered him unto thee." Then said Pilate unto them, "Take ye him unto you, and judge him after your own law." Then the Jews said unto him, "It is not lawful for us to put any man to death." That the words of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die. Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, "Art thou the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Sayest thou that of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?" Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and high priests have delivered thee unto me. What hast thou done?" Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world then would my ministers surely fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews, but now is my kingdom not from hence." Pilate said unto him, "Art thou a King then?" Jesus answered, "Thou sayest that I am a King. For this cause was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. And all that are of the truth hear my voice." Pilate said unto him, "What thing is truth?" And when he had said that, he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, "I find in him no cause at all. Ye have a custom among you, that I should deliver you one loose at Easter. Will ye that I loose unto you the King of the Jews?" Then cried they all again saying, "Not him, but Barabbas." That Barabbas was a robber.
