and those next to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, Memucan, the seven officials of Persia and Media who {had access to the king} and sat first in the kingdom--
And the king's young men will say, those serving him, They shall seek for the king, maidens, virgins good of appearance:
Who had been taken away from Jerusalem among those who had been made prisoner with Jeconiah, king of Judah, when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had taken him away.
Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, came to go in to the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's eunuch, the keeper of the women, advised. Esther obtained favor in the sight of all those who looked at her.
In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king's gate, two of the king's chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
And Haman said to king Ahasuerus, There is a people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from those of every people, and they keep not the king's laws; and it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
The king replied to Haman, "Keep your money, and do with those people whatever you wish."
"All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, know, that whoever, whether man or woman, comes to the king into the inner court without being called, there is one law for him, that he be put to death, except those to whom the king might hold out the golden scepter, that he may live. I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days."
And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's chamberlains, of those that kept the threshold, who had sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.
She said, "If the king is so inclined and if I have met with his approval and if the matter is agreeable to the king and if I am attractive to him, let an edict be written rescinding those recorded intentions of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, which he wrote in order to destroy the Jews who are throughout all the king's provinces.
In those letters, the king granted the Jews who were in every city to gather themselves together, and to defend their life, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions,
Now in the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the month, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, on the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to conquer them, (but it was turned out the opposite happened, that the Jews conquered those who hated them),
the Jews gathered in their cities in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus {to strike against} those who sought their destruction, and no one could withstand them, as the fear of them fell on all the people.
All the officials of the provinces, the satraps, governors, and {those who did the work of the king} [were] supporting the Jews, because the fear of Mordecai had fallen on them.
Thus the Jews defeated all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.
On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the citadel was brought before the king.
The rest of the Jews who [were] in the king's provinces gathered and {defended their lives} and {found repose} from their enemies. And they killed seventy-five thousand of those that hated them, but they did not {touch} the plunder.
This is why the Jews who are in the rural country -- those who live in rural cities -- set aside the fourteenth day of the month of Adar as a holiday for happiness, banqueting, holiday, and sending gifts to one another.
because during those days the Jews got rid of
the Jews established, and imposed on themselves, and on their descendants, and on all those who joined themselves to them, so that it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to what was written, and according to its appointed time, every year;
And that those days were to be kept in memory through every generation and every family, in every division of the kingdom and every town, that there might never be a time when these days of Purim would not be kept among the Jews, or when the memory of them would go from the minds of their seed.
Let those who curse the day curse it, those who are skilled at rousing Leviathan.
In that place, the wicked stop causing trouble, and there, those whose strength is exhausted are at rest.
There, are those let out free which have been in prison, so that they hear no more the voice of the oppressor.
"Why does he give light to one in misery and life to [those] bitter of soul,
to those who wait for death that does not come, and search for it more than for hidden treasures,
To those who are happy beyond measure when they reach their graves?
Your words have supported those who stumbled, and you have strengthened the knees that gave way.
“Remember now, who, being innocent, ever perished?
Or where [and in what circumstances] were those upright and in right standing with God destroyed?
According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity, and sow trouble, reap the same.
How much more, those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!
To set up on high those that are low; that those who mourn may be lifted to safety.
But he keeps safe from their sword those who have no father, and the poor from the power of the strong.
Therefore there is hope for those who are poor, and iniquity shuts its mouth.
My soul hath refused to touch, Those things, are like disease in my food.
Are not his days like those of a hired hand?
Surely God won't reject those who are blameless or hold hands with those who practice evil.
[Those] who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked {will be no more}."
If death comes suddenly through disease, he makes sport of the fate of those who have done no wrong.
or Your years like those of a man,
For he knows {those who are worthless}; {when he sees} iniquity, {he will not consider it}.
{Those at ease have contempt} for [the] thought of {disaster}, [but it is] ready for those unstable of foot.
[The] tents of [the] destroyers are at peace, and [there is] security for those who provoke God, [for those] whom God brings into his hand.
"With God are strength and sound wisdom; both the deceived and those who deceive are responsible to him.
He removes the speech of those who are trusted, and takes away the understanding of the elders.
They go feeling about in the dark without light, wandering without help like those overcome with wine.
Both [the] gray-haired and [the] old [are] among us-- {those older than your father}.
for [the] company of [the] godless [is] barren, and fire consumes the tents of those who accept bribes.
Truly, those who make sport of me are round about me, and my eyes become dark because of their bitter laughing.
But the righteous person will hold to his way, and those with clean hands will grow stronger and stronger."
He has neither children nor descendants among his people, no survivor in those places he once stayed.
[Those of the] west are appalled over {his fate}, and [those of the] east {are seized with horror}.
Indeed, the residences of the wicked are like this; and so are the homes of those who don't know God."
My relations and my near friends have given me up, and those living in my house have put me out of their minds.
Those who dwell in my house, and my maids, count me for a stranger. I am an alien in their sight.
and those I love have turned against me.
Whom, I myself, shall see, on my side, and, mine own eyes, shall have looked upon, and not those of a stranger. Exhausted are my deepest desires in my bosom!
he will perish forever like his dung; [those who] have seen him will say, 'Where [is] he?'
There is no peace for him in his wealth, and no salvation for him in those things in which he took delight.
All darkness shall be hidden in his secret places; a fire not blown shall consume him; those left in his tent shall be broken.
Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judges those that are on high.
Do you not ask [those] traveling [the] roads, and do you not take notice of their accounts?
Everyone follows behind him,
and those who go before him are without number.
For you have taken your brother's goods when he was not in your debt, and have taken away the clothing of those who have need of it.

"Why are not times kept by Shaddai, and [why] do not [those who] know him see his days?
They get mixed grain from the field, and they take away the late fruit from the vines of those who have wealth.
There are those who pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge of the poor,
From the town come sounds of pain from those who are near death, and the soul of the wounded is crying out for help; but God does not take note of their prayer.
They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not its ways, nor abide in its paths.
He who is purposing death gets up before day, so that he may put to death the poor and those in need.
Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so does the grave those who have sinned.
"What a help you are to the weak! How powerfully you deliver those without strength!
How have you advised those not wise, or fully declared wise plans?
Before whom hast thou spoken those words? Who made the breath to come out of the mouth?
"Those who are deceased tremble, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
A stream hath broken out from a sojourner, Those forgotten of the foot, They were low, from man they wandered.
Those who were about to die blessed me, and I made widows sing for joy.
I was a father to the needy; I diligently inquired into the case of those I didn't know.
I lived as a king among his troops,
like one who comforts those who mourn.

"But now [those] younger than I, as far as days, laugh at me, whose fathers I rejected for setting with the dogs of my sheep and goats.
With want and with famine gloomy, Those fleeing to a dry place, Formerly a desolation and waste,
Those cropping mallows near a shrub, And broom-roots is their food.
They come like those who breach through a wall; as everything crashes around me they'll roll on and on!
Has my soul not grieved for the needy?
So my lyre came to be [used] for mourning, and my flute [for the] voice of [those who] weep.
Is it not misfortune for the unjust, and disaster for those who work iniquity?
"Have I rejoiced in the destruction of those who hate me, or have I been happy that evil caught up with him?
but when he saw that there had been no response from those three, he got even more angry.
I said to myself, It is right for the old to say what is in their minds, and for those who are far on in years to give out wisdom.
It is not the old who are wise, and those who are full of years have not the knowledge of what is right.
And draw near to the pit doth his soul, And his life to those causing death.
