Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You be the people’s representative before God, and you bring the disputes to God,

If you do this thing and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.”

Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel:

And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder.

Then Moses entreated the Lord his God, and said, “O Lord, why does Your anger burn against Your people whom You have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

The tablets were God’s work, and the writing was God’s writing engraved on the tablets.

For they said to me, ‘Make a god for us who will go before us; for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’

Now when Moses saw that the people were out of control—for Aaron had let them get out of control to be a derision among their enemies—

then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered together to him.

When anyone touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or any unclean detestable thing, and eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings which belong to the Lord, that person shall be cut off from his people.’”
