And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace and come out of him.
And the unclean spirit having torn him, and cried with a loud noise, came out of him.
And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, What is this? What new teaching is this? For with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits and they obey him.
And Simon's wife's mother lay ill of a fever, and immediately they tell him of her.
And in the evening, when the sun was set, they brought to him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
And he healed many that were ill of divers diseases, and cast out many devils, and suffered not the devils to say that they knew him.
And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
And having found him, they say to him, All men seek thee.
And there came to him a leper beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying to him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
And Jesus, moved with tender compassion, putting forth his hand, touched him, and saith to him, I will; be thou clean.
And when he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was cleansed.
And having straitly charged him, he forthwith sent him away, And saith to him, See thou say nothing to any man;
But he going out published it much and blazed abroad the matter, so that he could no more openly enter into the city; but he was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
And he spake the word to them. And they come to him, bringing a paralytic, borne of four.
And not being able to come nigh him for the croud, they uncovered the roof where he was, and having broken it up, they let down the couch whereon the paralytic lay.
And he went forth again by the sea-side, and all the multitude came to him, and he taught them.
And passing by, he saw Levi, the son of Alpheus sitting at the custom-house, and saith to him, Follow me.
And he arose and followed him. And as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many, and they followed him.
And the scribes and Pharisees seeing him eat with publicans and sinners, said to his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? And Jesus hearing it saith to them-
And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say to him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
And the Pharisees said to him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath that which is not lawful?
And he said to them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry he and they that were with him?
How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the shew-bread, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and gave also to them who were with him?
And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.
And the Pharisees going out, straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
Then Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him,
And from Judea, and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, having heard what great things he did, came to him.
And he spake to his disciples, that a boat should wait on him, because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
For he had healed many, so that they rushed in upon him, as many as had plagues.
And unclean spirits when they saw him fell down before him and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth to him whom he would, and they came to him.
And he ordained twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
and Simon the Canaanite, And Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
And his relations hearing of it, came out to lay hold on him; for they said, He is beside himself.
And calling them to him, he said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
Then come his brethren and his mother, and standing without, sent to him, calling him.
And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
And looking round on them who sat about him, he said, Behold my mother and my brethren.
And again he taught by the sea-side, and a great multitude was gathered to him, so that going into the boat, he sat in the sea, and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
And when he was alone, they that were about him, with the twelve, asked him of the parable.
For he that hath, to him shall be given; but he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
And having sent away the multitude, they take him as he was in the boat. And there were with him other little vessels.
But he was asleep on the pillow, in the stern of the boat. And they awake him and say to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
And as he came out of the boat, there met him immediately out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Who had his dwelling among the tombs, and no man could bind him, no not with chains.
For he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder, by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no man could tame him.
But seeing Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, And crying with a loud voice,
(For he had said to him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.)
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered saying, My name is Legion; for we are many.
And he earnestly besought him, that he would not send them away out of the country.
And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us to the swine, that we may go into them.
And as he went into the boat, he that had been possessed with the devils, besought him, that he might be with him.
But Jesus suffered him not, but said to him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
And he departed and published in Decapolis, how great things Jesus had done for him. And all men marvelled.
And when Jesus was passed over again by boat to the other side, much people was gathered to him, and he was near the sea.
And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, falleth at his feet.
And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death:
come and lay thy hands on her that she may be healed, and she shall live. And he went with him, and much people followed him and thronged him.
And Jesus immediately knowing in himself, that virtue had gone out of him, turning about in the croud said, Who touched my clothes?
And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
And they laughed him to scorn. But having put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and goeth in where the damsel was lying.
And he went out from thence and came into his own country, and his disciples follow him.
And on the sabbath he taught in the synagogue, and many hearing were astonished, saying, Whence hath this man these things? And what wisdom is this that is given him, that such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
Is not this the carpenter? The son of Mary, the brother of James and Joses, and of Judas and Simon! And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
And he calleth to him the twelve, and sent them forth by two and two, and gave them power over unclean spirits;
And king Herod heard (for his name was spread abroad) and he said, John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore divine powers exert themselves in him.
For Herod himself had sent and apprehended John, and bound him in prison, for Herodias sake, his brother Philip's wife, for he had married her.
Therefore Herodias was incensed against him, and was desirous to have killed him; but she could not.
For Herod reverenced John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and preserved him: and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
And he went and beheaded him in the prison, And brought his head in a charger and gave it to the damsel, and the damsel gave it to her mother.
And the apostles gather themselves together to Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught.
And many saw them departing and knew him, and ran a foot thither from all the cities, and outwent them, and came together to him.
And when the day was now far spent, the disciples coming to him said, This is a desert place, and it is now late.
He answered and said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
But they seeing him walking on the sea, supposed it had been an apparition, and cried out.
(For they all saw him and were troubled.) And immediately he talked with them, and saith to them, Take courage: it is I: be not afraid.
And when they were come out of the boat, they knew him,
And wheresoever he entered into villages, cities, or country-places, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the hem of his garment; and as many as touched him were made whole.
Then come together to him the Pharisees and certain of the scribes, who came from Jerusalem.
Then the Pharisees ask him, Why walk not thy disciples, according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with defiled hands?
And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
There is nothing entering into a man from without, which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, these are they that defile the man.
And when he was come from the multitude into the house, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
And he saith to them, Are even ye so without understanding? Do ye not perceive, That whatsoever entereth into a man from without, cannot defile him,
having heard of him, came and fell at his feet, (The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation) and besought him to cast the devil out of her daughter.
She answered and said to him, True, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
And they bring to him one that was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and beseech him to put his hand upon him.
And taking him aside from the multitude, he put his fingers into his ears, and spitting, touched his tongue.
And looking up to heaven, he groaned and saith to him, Ephphatha, that is, be opened.
And his disciples answered him, Whence can one satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
And the Pharisees came forth and questioned with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
When I brake the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say to him, Twelve.
