Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to cast off for the other side of the Sea of Galilee.

And when they had made sport of him, they took the robe off him, and put his clothing on him, and took him away to put him on the cross.

They attached over His head [i.e., to the upright portion of the cross] the charge made against Him, which read, "This is Jesus, the king of the Jews."

And those who passed by [the cross] shouted abuse at Him and shook their heads [in derision],

let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God: let him deliver him now if he will have him; for he said, I am the Son of God.

And the angel said to the women, Have no fear: for I see that you are searching for Jesus, who was put to death on the cross.
