They zealously seek you in no good way; nay, they desire to shut you out, that ye may seek them.

For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts,


For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in error;

But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there some that hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

But I have this against thee, that thou sufferest the woman Jezebel, who calleth herself a prophetess; and she teacheth and seduceth my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.




but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.






Therefore we have been comforted: And in our comfort we joyed the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit hath been refreshed by you all. For if in anything I have gloried to him on your behalf, I was not put to shame; but as we spake all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth. And his affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him. read more.
I rejoice that in everything I am of good courage concerning you.

even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.


Then believed they his words; They sang his praise. They soon forgat his works; They waited not for his counsel,


Where then is that gratulation of yourselves? for I bear you witness, that, if possible, ye would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.



Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and declare unto my people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways: as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near unto God.

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but do them not; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their gain. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.



How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Jehovah of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of Jehovah; My heart and my flesh cry out unto the living God.

Moreover also, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of mine own of gold and silver, I give it unto the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

Jehovah, I love the habitation of thy house, And the place where thy glory dwelleth.


The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart: The commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever: The ordinances of Jehovah are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the droppings of the honeycomb.

My soul breaketh for the longing That it hath unto thine ordinances at all times.


How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

My soul hath observed thy testimonies; And I love them exceedingly.






For the zeal of thy house hath eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me.

My zeal hath consumed me, Because mine adversaries have forgotten thy words.

But it is good to be zealously sought in a good matter at all times, and not only when I am present with you.


As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Whom have I in heaven but thee ? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides thee.

With my whole heart have I sought thee: Oh let me not wander from thy commandments.







Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as Jehovah, the God of thy fathers, hath promised unto thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.





If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.


Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.


And they said one to another, Was not our heart burning within us, while he spake to us in the way, while he opened to us the scriptures?
