John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before that man.

I receive not honor from men; but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I have come in my Fathers name, and ye receive me not; if another come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe while ye receive honor from one another, and seek not the honor that is from him who alone is God? Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye have placed your hope. For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if ye do not believe his writings, how will ye believe my words?

They therefore, having come together, asked him, saying, Lord, art thou at this time about to restore the kingdom to Israel? But he said to them, It belongeth not to you to know times or seasons, which the Father appointed by his own authority. Through faith we perceive that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that that which is seen hath not been made out of things which appear.
