Put away all badness and all deception, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil talk.

Respect for Jehovah means to hate evil. I hate: pride, and arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life. Aggression comes from the mouth of the wicked.

The city is exalted by the blessing of the upright. The mouth of the wicked ruins the city.

The thoughts of the righteous are just. The counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

He who keeps his mouth (watches what he says) keeps his life. He who opens wide his lips (speaks thoughtlessly) will have destruction.

A truthful witness saves lives. A deceitful witness speaks lies.

A mild answer turns away anger. Harsh words stir up anger.

An ungodly man digs up evil. It lies on his lips like a burning fire.

The evildoer pays attention to false lips. A liar listens attentively to a wicked tongue.

The words of a talebearer cause wounds. They plunge down to the innermost parts.

Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a fool whose lips are perverse.

Their minds meditate on evil, and their lips talk about trouble.

The north wind drives away rain. So does an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

Without wood the fire goes out. Without a talebearer strife ceases. As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle disputes. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts.read more.
