Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore that desires to be a friend of the world, makes himself the enemy of God.
And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your soul that ye may experience what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.
Love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the charity of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away and the lust thereof, but he that does the will of God abides for ever.
For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The slave is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.
Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Blessed are ye when men shall hate you and when they shall separate you from their company and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil for the sake of the Son of man.
They shall put you out of the synagogues, and the hour will even come when whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.
I have given them thy word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you, but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.read more.
So let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as desirous of the things of others. But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf.
And it was given unto it to make war with the saints and to overcome them; and power was given it over all kindreds and tongues and nations.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, according to the elements of the world, and not after Christ.
Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, listening to spirits of error and doctrines of demons;
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, they shall heap up unto themselves teachers who shall speak to them according to their own lusts, and thus they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall return unto fables.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Then I beheld another beast coming up out of the land; and he had two horns like the Lamb, but he spoke as the dragon.
And the beast was taken and with it the false prophet that wrought miracles in its presence, with which he had deceived those that had taken the mark of the beast and had worshipped its image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from the carnal desires which war against the soul
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
For we now know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold unto subjection by sin. For that which I do, I do not understand, and not even the good that I desire is what I do; but what I hate, that is what I do. If then I do that which I do not desire, I approve that the law is good.read more.
So that it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. And I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing; for I have the desire, but I am not able to perform that which is good. For I do not do the good that I desire; but the evil which I do not desire, that I do. And if I do that which I do not desire, I am not working, but sin that dwells in me. So that, desiring to do good, I find this law: evil is natural unto me. For I delight with the law of God with the inward man, but I see another law in my members which rebels against the law of my mind, bringing captive unto the law of sin which is in my members.
For if ye live according to the flesh, ye shall die; but if through the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For those that are of the Christ have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil lust, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
Where do the wars and disputes come from among you? From here that is to say, of your lusts which fight in your members?
Be temperate and vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour,
and the enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.
And these are those by the way side, in whom the word is sown, but when they have heard, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Those along the way are those that hear; then comes the devil and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
I do not pray that thou should take them out of the world, but that thou should keep them from the evil.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall confirm you and keep you from evil.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
For this cause I, also, not waiting any longer, have sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter has tempted you and our labour is in vain.
Now the serpent was more astute than all the animals of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Has God indeed said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman answered unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, Ye shall not eat of it; neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.read more.
Then the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God knows that in the day ye eat of it then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was desirable to the eyes, and a tree of covetousness to understand, she took of its fruit and ate and gave also unto her husband with her; and he ate.
For in that he himself has suffered and was tempted, he is also powerful to help those that are tempted.
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
But I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve through his craftiness, so your senses should be corrupted in some way, and ye should fall from the simplicity that is in the Christ.
And the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, who is called Devil and the Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Then the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.
In whom the god of this age has blinded the understanding of those who do not believe, that the light of the gospel of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine in them.
Therefore if anyone comes preaching another Jesus whom we have not preached or if ye receive another spirit from that which ye have received or another gospel from that which ye have accepted, ye bear well with it.
and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon it, that he should deceive the Gentiles no more, until the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after it is necessary that he be loosed a little while.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation and virtue and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.
Then Satan answered the LORD and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? Hast thou not made a hedge about him and about his house and about all that he has on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands; therefore, his substance has increased in the land. But put forth thy hand now and touch all that he has, and thou shalt see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face.
And he showed me Joshua the high priest, standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
