among whom we also all once lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest;

but sin, taking occasion through the commandment, wrought in me all manner of coveting; for apart from law sin is dead.

For those who are such are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and, through their kind words and flattering speeches, they beguile the hearts of the simple.

For we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving manifold desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But each one is tempted, when by his own desire he is drawn away and enticed.

For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice, in desires of the flesh, by their lasciviousness, those just escaping from those who live in error; promising them liberty, while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what one is overcome by this he has become enslaved.

because all that is in the world??he desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the vain-glory of life??s not of the Father, but is of the world.

But, if ye have bitter jealousy and contention in your heart, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom is not the wisdom that comes down from above; but is earthly, soulish, demoniacal! For where there are jealousy and contention, there is confusion and every vile deed.

idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strifes, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,

but the other proclaim Christ of contention, not sincerely, thinking to add tribulation to my bonds.

Whence are wars, and whence are battles among you? Are they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members? Ye desire, and have not; ye kill, and envy, and cannot obtain; ye fight, and war; ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it on your pleasures.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

lest, when I come again, my God should humble me before you, and I should mourn for many of those who have heretofore sinned, and repented not of the uncleanness, and fornication and lasciviousness which they practiced.

having eyes full of lustfulness, and that cannot cease from sin; enticing unstable souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; children of a curse;

Your gold and silver are covered with rust, and their rust will be for a witness against you, and will eat your flesh, as fire. Ye laid up treasures in the last days! Behold, the hire of the workmen who mowed down your fields, which is fraudulently kept back by you, is crying out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. Ye lived luxuriously on the earth, and rioted in pleasure; ye nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.

whom it is needful to reduce to silence: who, indeed, are overthrowing whole houses, teaching what they ought not, for the sake of base gain.

who, indeed, having become without feeling, delivered themselves up to lasciviousness for the working of all uncleanness with greediness.

For this cause, God gave them up to vile passions; for both their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature; and, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, burned in their desires one for another; men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves the recompense of their error, which was due. But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come; for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, intemperate, fierce, no lovers of good,read more.
traitors, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;

And he said, 'This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there will I store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Senseless one! this night they require your soul of you; and the things you prepared, whose shall they be?'read more.

And, not many days after, gathering all things together, the younger son went abroad into a far country, and there wasted his estate, living riotously. Which things, having, indeed, a show of wisdom, in will-worship, humility, and severe treatment of the body, are not of any value, against the indulgence of the flesh.

but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill its desires.

And those who are of Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with the passions and desires.

For the salvation-imparting grace of God appeared to all men, teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and godly in the present age;

For those who are according to the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye will not fulfill the desire of the flesh.

as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance;

that ye no longer live the rest of your time in the flesh to the desires of men, but to the will of God.

For this is the will of God??ven your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication; that each one of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor; not in passion of desire, even as the gentiles, who know not God;

And every one who strives in the games exercises self restraint in all things; they, indeed, therefore, to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. I, therefore, so run, as not uncertainly I so fight, as not beating the air. But I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage; lest, by any means, after having preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

But the end of all things has drawn near; be ye, therefore, of sound mind, and be sober unto prayers;

and in knowledge, continence; and in continence, patience; and in patience, godliness;

Make dead, therefore, your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which, indeed, is idolatry;

but I say to you, that every one who looks upon a woman, to lust after her, already committed adultery with her in his heart. "And, if your right eye is causing you to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from you; for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not your whole body be cast into Hell.

Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly desires, which, indeed, war against the soul;

For ye were called to freedom, brethren; only use not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love serve one another;

All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable; all things are lawful, but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own, but each another's good.

doing nothing through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, each esteeming others better than himself; not looking each to his own things, but each also to the things of others.
