'Disciples' in the Bible
Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples,That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word.He awakens Me morning by morning,He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him.
Another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.
Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples.
When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?”
Then the disciples of John *came to Him, asking, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples.
Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.
Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat.
But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath.”
And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers!
And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
Then He left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”
His disciples came and took away the body and buried it; and they went and reported to Jesus.
When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”
Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,
Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away.
When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear.
“Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
Then the disciples *came and *said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?”
But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us.”
And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, “I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”
The disciples *said to Him, “Where would we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy such a large crowd?”
and He took the seven loaves and the fish; and giving thanks, He broke them and started giving them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread.
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
Then He warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ.
From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified.
And His disciples asked Him, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.
I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.”
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?”
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
The disciples *said to Him, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.”
Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.
And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?”
As Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and on the way He said to them,
When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,
Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”
And they *sent their disciples to Him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any.
Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him.
As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
When Jesus had finished all these words, He said to His disciples,
But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, “Why this waste?
Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near; I am to keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’”
The disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples.
While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
Peter *said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.
Then Jesus *came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and *said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?
Then He *came to the disciples and *said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
But all this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures of the prophets.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.
Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”
Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”
And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.
and said, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’
But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
And it *happened that He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners were dining with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many of them, and they were following Him.
When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, “Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”
John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they *came and *said to Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”
And it happened that He was passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples began to make their way along while picking the heads of grain.
Jesus withdrew to the sea with His disciples; and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and also from Judea,
And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him;
and He did not speak to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples.
And His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”
Jesus went out from there and *came into His hometown; and His disciples *followed Him.
When his disciples heard about this, they came and took away his body and laid it in a tomb.
When it was already quite late, His disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and it is already quite late;
And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all.
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side to Bethsaida, while He Himself was sending the crowd away.
and had seen that some of His disciples were eating their bread with impure hands, that is, unwashed.
The Pharisees and the scribes *asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?”
When he had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable.
In those days, when there was again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples and *said to them,
And His disciples answered Him, “Where will anyone be able to find enough bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”
And He *directed the people to sit down on the ground; and taking the seven loaves, He gave thanks and broke them, and started giving them to His disciples to serve to them, and they served them to the people.
And immediately He entered the boat with His disciples and came to the district of Dalmanutha.
Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, “Who do people say that I am?”
But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.
When they came back to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and some scribes arguing with them.
and whenever it seizes him, it slams him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth and stiffens out. I told Your disciples to cast it out, and they could not do it.”
When He came into the house, His disciples began questioning Him privately, “Why could we not drive it out?”
For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later.”
In the house the disciples began questioning Him about this again.
And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them.
And Jesus, looking around, *said to His disciples, “How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!”
