Then they brought the foal to Jesus, and, when they had laid their cloaks on it, he seated himself upon it.
And a great number put down their clothing in the way; and others put down branches which they had taken from the fields.
And the Lord entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple. And when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
And on the day after, when they had come out from Bethany, he was in need of food.
And seeing a fig-tree in the distance with leaves, he went to see if by chance it had anything on it: and when he came to it, he saw nothing but leaves, for it was not the time for the fruit.
And when evening had come, he went out of the city.
The next morning, [as they returned to the city], they passed by the fig tree and saw that it had withered, clear down to its roots.
And Peter, remembering what Jesus had said, says to him, Rabbi, see, the fig-tree which thou cursedst is dried up.
No, let us say, From men" ??but they were afraid of the multitude, for the people all held John had been really a prophet.

"Teacher, Moses wrote to us [Deut. 25:5] that if a man's brother dies, leaving his widow behind without having had any children, his brother should marry his widow and father children by her. These children would then be considered his [dead] brother's.
There were seven brothers. The first one married, and when he died he had no children.
And all the seven had no seed. Last of all the woman herself came to her death.
In the future life, when they come back from the dead, whose wife will she be? for the seven had her for a wife.
For the seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said to them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
And one of the scribes came, and hearing their argument together, and seeing that he had given them a good answer, put the question to him, Which law is the first of all?
And Jesus, [when he] saw that he had answered thoughtfully, said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And no one dared to put a question to him any longer.
And he took a seat by the place where the money was kept, and saw how the people put money into the boxes: and a number who had wealth put in much.
Because they all put in something out of what they had no need for; but she out of her need put in all she had, even all her living.
When Jesus had sat down on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew questioned him privately:
There will be great trouble during those days, such as had never been from the beginning of God's creation until the present, or even will be [in the days to come].
And if the Lord had not made the time short, no flesh would have been kept from destruction; but because of the saints he has made the time short.

And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
She applied what she had to anoint my body. She did it beforehand for the burial.
After they had listened to him, they were delighted and promised to give him money. So he began to look for a good opportunity to betray him.

And [after they] had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Then He came and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Had you not strength to keep awake a single hour?
And again he came and saw them sleeping, because their eyes were very tired; and they had nothing to say in answer.
And immediately, as Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve apostles came with a crowd who were carrying swords and clubs. [They had come] from the leading priests, the experts in the law of Moses and the [Jewish] elders.
Now he who had been false to him had given them a sign, saying, The one to whom I give a kiss, that is he; take him, and get him away safely.
And when he had come, he went straight to him and said, Master; and gave him a kiss.
"Have you come out," said Jesus, "with swords and cudgels to arrest me, as if you had to fight with a robber?
And a certain young man [Note: Some think this is a reference to Mark himself], who had a linen outer garment thrown over his scantily clad body, was following Jesus until they [i.e., the soldiers and officers] took hold of him. [Note: The wording here does not indicate total nakedness, but rather the wearing of underclothing only]
Then they took Jesus to the high priest. All the high priests, elders, and scribes had gathered together.
And Peter had come after him at a distance, even into the house of the high priest; and he was seated with the captains, warming himself in the light of the fire.
Again the maidservant who had noticed him began to tell the bystanders, "That fellow is one of them."
And in the same minute, the cock gave a second cry. And it came to Peter's mind how Jesus had said to him, Before the cock's second cry, you will say three times that you have no knowledge of me. And at this thought he was overcome with weeping.
And the first thing in the morning the chief priests, with those in authority and the scribes and all the Sanhedrin, had a meeting, and put cords round Jesus, and took him away, and gave him up to Pilate.
And there was one named Barabbas, in prison with those who had gone against the government and in the fight had taken life.
And the people went up, requesting him to do as he had done for them in other years.
For he saw that the chief priests had given him up through envy.
But the high priests had moved the people that he should, rather, deliver Barabbas unto them.
And Pilate, desiring to do what was pleasing to the people, let Barabbas go free, and gave up Jesus, when he had been whipped, to be put to death on the cross.
And they clothe him with purple, and bind round on him a crown of thorns which they had plaited.
And when they had made sport of him, they took the purple robe off him and put his clothing on him. And they took him out to put him to death on the cross.
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what every man should have.
And the inscription of his accusation, had been inscribed - THE KING OF THE JEWS.
The Christ, the King of Israel - let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And, they who had been crucified with him, were casting it in his teeth.
And when the sixth hour had come, it was dark over all the land till the ninth hour.
And the centurion who stood by over against him, when he saw that he had expired having thus cried out, said, Truly this man was Son of God.

They had been asking each other, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"
And [when they] looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away (for it was very large).
but he says to them, Be not alarmed. Ye seek Jesus, the Nazarene, the crucified one. He is risen, he is not here; behold the place where they had put him.
And they went out quickly from the place, because fear and great wonder had come on them: and they said nothing to anyone, because they were full of fear that ...
Now when he came back from the dead early on the first day of the week, he went first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had sent out seven evil spirits.
She went and gave news of it to those who had been with him, while they were sorrowing and weeping.
And they, when it came to their ears that he was living, and had been seen by her, had no belief in it.

For he has had pity on his servant, though she is poor and lowly placed: and from this hour will all generations give witness to the blessing which has come to me.
Those who had no food he made full of good things; the men of wealth he sent away with nothing in their hands;
as he had spoken to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed.
Now it was time for Elisabeth to give birth, and she had a son.
And it came to the ears of her neighbours and relations that the Lord had been very good to her, and they took part in her joy.
immediately he had the use of his speech: and he uttered himself in praises to God.
And all who had word of them kept them in their minds and said, What will this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
