"Be angry, and sin not;" let not the sun go down upon your wrath; and do not give place to the Devil.

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the Evil One cometh, and snatcheth away that which was sown in his heart; this man is what was sown by the wayside.

And he saith to them, Know ye not this parable? and how will ye know all the parables? The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the wayside, those where the word is sown, and when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in them.

Now the meaning of the parable is this. The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the Devil and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.

And a great sign was seen in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars; and being with child she crieth out, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And another sign was seen in heaven; and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems; read more.
and his tail dragged the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon standeth before the woman who was about to bring forth, that when she hath brought forth he may devour her child. And she brought forth a manchild, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared by God, that they should nourish her there a thousand two hundred and sixty days. And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, Now is come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night; and they conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives, even to death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea! for the Devil is come down to you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. And when the dragon saw that he was cast down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who brought forth the manchild. And to the woman were given the two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a river, after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the river. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was enraged at the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God, and maintain the testimony to Jesus.

And I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the abyss, and shut him up and set a seal over him, that he may deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years are ended: after that he must be loosed for a short time.

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being accomplished in your brethren in the world.

For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation to all men, was manifested, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in the present world;

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, there is no need of writing to you; for ye yourselves know full well, that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. When they are saying, Peace and safety; then doth sudden destruction come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. read more.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief; for ye all are sons of light, and sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Let us not sleep, then, as others, but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that are drunken, are drunken in the night; but let us, as we are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation;

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles as lowest, as men sentenced to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christs sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are in honor, but we are despised. Even to this very hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace, read more.
and labor, working with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure it; being slandered, we exhort; we have become as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being accomplished in your brethren in the world. But the God of all grace, who called you to his everlasting glory in Christ Jesus, will, after ye have suffered a while, himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
