I ALONE AM JEHOVAH. THAT IS MY NAME. I WILL NOT GIVE MY GLORY TO ANOTHER! I will not let idols share my praise.

God then said to Moses: [I exist and] I WILL BE WHO I WILL BE. You shall say to the sons of Israel: I WILL BE, has sent me to you.' (Hebrew: hayah, I was, I am, I will be gives evidence of God's eternal existence) God, further said to Moses: You shall say to the sons of Israel: 'JEHOVAH, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' God spoke further to Moses and said to him: I am Jehovah. I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name, Jehovah, I did not make myself known to them.

Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on (proclaim) the name of Jehovah.

You might not faithfully obey every word of the teachings that are written in this book. You might not respect this glorious and awe inspiring name: JEHOVAH your God. If so, Jehovah will strike you and your descendants with unimaginable plagues. They will be terrible continuing plagues. They will be severe and lingering diseases.

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear about it, and will surround us and cut our name off from the earth. What will you do for your great name?

The Israelite woman's son began cursing Jehovah's name and treating it with contempt. So they brought him to Moses.

You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God! There is none else and my people shall never be put to shame.

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree at Beer-sheba. There he called on the name of Jehovah, the Everlasting God.

The reason is because I am Jehovah your God. You must live holy lives. Consecrate yourselves and be holy because I am holy. Never become unclean by touching anything that swarms or crawls on the ground.

No one is as holy as Jehovah. There is none beside you. Neither is there any rock like our God.

Sing praise to Jehovah, you his godly ones, and give thanks to his holy name.

On that day Jehovah brought the Israelite tribes out of Egypt.

That day Jehovah saved the people of Israel from the Egyptians. The Israelites saw them lying dead on the seashore.

Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites: This evening you will know that it was Jehovah who brought you out of Egypt.

I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt.

I am Jehovah your God. I brought you out of Egypt so that you are no longer slaves of the Egyptians. I have broken their power over you and made you live as a free people.

I, Jehovah, am your God! I brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

I will make you my people, and I will be your God. You will know that I am Jehovah your God. I brought you out from under the forced labor of the Egyptians.

They shall know that I am Jehovah their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them. I am Jehovah their God!

You chose Israel to be your people from generation to generation! You have become their God.

You made your people Israel your very own for a very long time, and you, O Jehovah, have become their God.

Why are you like someone taken by surprise, like a mighty man who cannot help? You, O Jehovah, are among us. We are called by your name. Do not leave us!

Jehovah said: That night I will go through the land of Egypt. I will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast. I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt! I am Jehovah!

The Egyptians will know that I am Jehovah when I use my power against Egypt and bring the sons of Israel out of there.

At that same time I will cut off the land of Goshen where my people live. No swarms of flies shall be there. / Then you will know that I am Jehovah in the midst of the earth. I will put a dividing line between my people and your people. This sign will happen tomorrow.'

David answered: You come out to fight me with a sword and a spear and a dagger. But I come out to fight you in the name of Jehovah of Hosts. He is the Almighty God of Israel's army. You have insulted him! Today Jehovah will help me defeat you. I will knock you down and cut off your head! I will feed the bodies of the other Philistine soldiers to the birds and wild animals. Then the whole world will know that Israel has a real God. Everybody here will see that Jehovah does not need swords or spears to save his people. Jehovah always wins his battles. He will help us defeat you!

Asa prayed: Jehovah, only you can help a powerless army defeat a stronger one. We depend on you to help us. We will fight against this powerful army to honor your name! We know that you will not be defeated. You are Jehovah our God. Do not let man prevail against you. Jehovah helped Asa and his army defeat the Ethiopians. The enemy soldiers ran away, Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar. It was a total defeat! The Ethiopians could not even fight back! The soldiers from Judah took everything that had belonged to the Ethiopians.

The surrounding nations that are left will know that I, Jehovah, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted crops in the land that was empty. I, Jehovah, have spoken, and I have done it.'

So the nations will respect the name of Jehovah and all the kings of the earth will honor you. For Jehovah has built up Zion. He has appeared in His glory. He has respected the prayer of the destitute and has not despised their prayer.read more.
This will be written for the generation to come: That a people yet to be created may praise Jehovah. He looked down from his holy height. Jehovah gazed upon the earth from heaven. He heard the groaning of the prisoner, to set free those who were doomed to death. Let men tell of the Jehovah's name in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem, When the peoples and kingdoms are gathered together to serve Jehovah.

You have been abandoned and hated. No one has passed through you. But now I will make you a foundation of everlasting pride, a joy for all generations. You will drink milk from other nations and nurse at royal breasts. Then you will know that I am Jehovah, your Savior, the Mighty One of Jacob, and your Defender (Protector). I will bring gold instead of copper. I will bring silver instead of iron, copper instead of wood, and iron instead of stone. You will no longer hear about violence in your land or desolation and destruction within your borders. You will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. The sun will no longer be your light during the day. The brightness of the moon will not give you light, for Jehovah will be your everlasting light. Your God will be your glory. Your sun will no longer go down, nor will your moon disappear. Jehovah will be your everlasting light, and your days of sadness will be over. Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land everlastingly. They will be the seedlings I have planted, the honored work of my hands. The smallest of them will become a thousand. The weakest of them will become a mighty nation. At the right time I, Jehovah, will make it happen quickly.
