But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.read more.
And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." And Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weakened through the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin: he condemned sin in the flesh,

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty you might become rich.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He does not need, like those high priests, to offer up daily sacrifices, first for his own sins and then for the sins of the people, because he did this once for all when he offered up himself. For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.

And you know that he appeared to take away our sins, and in him there is no sin.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross.

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.

And with a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.

Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God, and said, "Certainly this was a righteous man!"

So when Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished!" And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved through him from the wrath of God. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.read more.
Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received our reconciliation.

"I came to cast fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?"

I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work which you have given me to do.

And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you." So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had gripped them. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.read more.
While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. So she ran, and came to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him." Peter therefore went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb.read more.
They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the napkin that had been around his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in; and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descended from David according to my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of wearing chains like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and so is your faith.

who was delivered to death for our sins and was raised for our justification.

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?read more.
We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you obey its passions. Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but yield yourselves to God as men who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not have dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

For since by a man came death, by a man came also the resurrection of the dead.

And after he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.

In the first book, O Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach, until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after he had given orders through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.

Who is he who condemns? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who is also interceding for us.

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

He is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of his being, and upholds all things by the word of his power. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
