'Asked' in the Bible
So he assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people and asked them where the Messiah would be born.
Then Herod secretly summoned the wise men and asked them the exact time the star appeared.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this?—even the winds and the sea obey Him!”
When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
and asked Him, “Are You the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”
There He saw a man who had a paralyzed hand. And in order to accuse Him they asked Him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
Then the disciples came up and asked Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
“‘An enemy did this!’ he told them.“‘So, do you want us to go and gather them up?’ the slaves asked him.
Then Pharisees and scribes came from Jerusalem to Jesus and asked,
“Are even you still lacking in understanding?” He asked.
“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked them.“Seven,” they said, “and a few small fish.”
The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and as a test, asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
“But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?”
Some Pharisees approached Him to test Him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on any grounds?”
“Why then,” they asked Him, “did Moses command us to give divorce papers and to send her away?”
Just then someone came up and asked Him, “Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”
“Which ones?” he asked Him. Jesus answered:Do not murder;do not commit adultery;do not steal;do not bear false witness;
When the disciples heard this, they were utterly astonished and asked, “Then who can be saved?”
“What do you want?” He asked her.“Promise,” she said to Him, “that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right and the other on Your left, in Your kingdom.”
“Whose image and inscription is this?” He asked them.
And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test Him:
He asked them, “How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls Him ‘Lord’:
When the disciples saw it, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked.
On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare the Passover so You may eat it?”
Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter, “So, couldn’t you stay awake with Me one hour?
“Friend,” Jesus asked him, “why have you come?”Then they came up, took hold of Jesus, and arrested Him.
Now Jesus stood before the governor. “Are You the King of the Jews?” the governor asked Him.Jesus answered, “You have said it.”
The governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?”“Barabbas!” they answered.
Pilate asked them, “What should I do then with Jesus, who is called Messiah?”They all answered, “Crucify Him!”
He approached Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Then Pilate ordered that it be released.
When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. People came and asked Him, “Why do John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”
When He was alone with the Twelve, those who were around Him asked Him about the parables.
And they were terrified and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
“What is your name?” He asked him.“My name is Legion,” he answered Him, “because we are many.”
And He asked them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look.”When they found out they said, “Five, and two fish.”
Then the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, “Why don’t Your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders, instead of eating bread with ritually unclean hands?”
When He went into the house away from the crowd, the disciples asked Him about the parable.
“How many loaves do you have?” He asked them.“Seven,” they said.
He took the blind man by the hand and brought him out of the village. Spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see anything?”
Jesus went out with His disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the road He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that I am?”
“But you,” He asked them again, “who do you say that I am?”Peter answered Him, “You are the Messiah!”
Then He asked them, “What are you arguing with them about?”
Wherever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I asked Your disciples to drive it out, but they couldn’t.”
“How long has this been happening to him?” Jesus asked his father.“From childhood,” he said.
After He went into a house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
Then they came to Capernaum. When He was in the house, He asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?”
Some Pharisees approached Him to test Him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“Why do you call Me good?” Jesus asked him. “No one is good but One—God.
They came again to Jerusalem. As He was walking in the temple complex, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came
So they brought one. “Whose image and inscription is this?” He asked them.“Caesar’s,” they said.
One of the scribes approached. When he heard them debating and saw that Jesus answered them well, he asked Him, “Which command is the most important of all?”
So Jesus asked this question as He taught in the temple complex, “How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the Son of David?
While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives across from the temple complex, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,
On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrifice the Passover lamb, His disciples asked Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare the Passover so You may eat it?”
Then He came and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you sleeping?” He asked Peter. “Couldn’t you stay awake one hour?
So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”He answered him, “You have said it.”
Pilate asked them again, “Then what do you want me to do with the One you call the King of the Jews?”
Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Sanhedrin who was himself looking forward to the kingdom of God, came and boldly went in to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
Pilate was surprised that He was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him whether He had already died.
“How can I know this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “For I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”
Mary asked the angel, “How can this be, since I have not been intimate with a man?”
He asked for a writing tablet and wrote: HIS NAME IS JOHN. And they were all amazed.
“Why were you searching for Me?” He asked them. “Didn’t you know that I had to be in My Father’s house?”
Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?”
After He left the synagogue, He entered Simon’s house. Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him about her.
He got into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from the land. Then He sat down and was teaching the crowds from the boat.
Then His disciples asked Him, “What does this parable mean?”
“What is your name?” Jesus asked him.“Legion,” he said—because many demons had entered him.
Then all the people of the Gerasene region asked Him to leave them, because they were gripped by great fear. So getting into the boat, He returned.
“Who touched Me?” Jesus asked.When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds are hemming You in and pressing against You.”
While He was praying in private and His disciples were with Him, He asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
“But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?”Peter answered, “God’s Messiah!”
“What is written in the law?” He asked him. “How do you read it?”
But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.”
As He was speaking, a Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and reclined at the table.
“Lord,” Peter asked, “are You telling this parable to us or to everyone?”
“Lord,” someone asked Him, “are there few being saved?”He said to them,
In response, Jesus asked the law experts and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”
So he summoned one of the servants and asked what these things meant.
So he called the manager in and asked, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you can no longer be my manager.’
“So he summoned each one of his master’s debtors. ‘How much do you owe my master?’ he asked the first one.
“Next he asked another, ‘How much do you owe?’“‘A hundred measures of wheat,’ he said.“‘Take your invoice,’ he told him, ‘and write 80.’
Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God will come, He answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with something observable;
“Where, Lord?” they asked Him.He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”
A ruler asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“Why do you call Me good?” Jesus asked him. “No one is good but One—God.
Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him. When he drew near, He asked him,
“Teacher,” they asked Him, “so when will these things be? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?”
“Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.
“Why are you sleeping?” He asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation.”
When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword?”
They all asked, “Are You, then, the Son of God?”And He said to them, “You say that I am.”
So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”He answered him, “You have said it.”
