'Sea' in the Bible
He left Nazareth behind and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.
Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,along the sea road, beyond the Jordan,Galilee of the Gentiles!
As He was walking along the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen.
When Jesus saw large crowds around Him, He gave the order to go to the other side of the sea.
Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping.
But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, you of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this?—even the winds and the sea obey Him!”
“Go!” He told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs. And suddenly the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water.
On that day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a large net thrown into the sea. It collected every kind of fish,
Around three in the morning, He came toward them walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.
Moving on from there, Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee. He went up on a mountain and sat there,
“But, so we won’t offend them, go to the sea, cast in a fishhook, and take the first fish that you catch. When you open its mouth you’ll find a coin. Take it and give it to them for Me and you.”
“But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me—it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea!
Jesus answered them, “I assure you: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you tell this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to make one proselyte, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as fit for hell as you are!
As He was passing along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen.
Then Jesus went out again beside the sea. The whole crowd was coming to Him, and He taught them.
Jesus departed with His disciples to the sea, and a large crowd followed from Galilee, Judea,
Again He began to teach by the sea, and a very large crowd gathered around Him. So He got into a boat on the sea and sat down, while the whole crowd was on the shore facing the sea.
He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And they were terrified and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gerasenes.
And He gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits came out and entered the pigs, and the herd of about 2,000 rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned there.
When Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him while He was by the sea.
When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and He was alone on the land.
He saw them being battered as they rowed, because the wind was against them. Around three in the morning He came toward them walking on the sea and wanted to pass by them.
When they saw Him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost and cried out;
Again, leaving the region of Tyre, He went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, through the region of the Decapolis.
“But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me—it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.
“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,” the Lord said, “you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.
“Then there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and there will be anguish on the earth among nations bewildered by the roaring sea and waves.
After this, Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee (or Tiberias).
When evening came, His disciples went down to the sea,
got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. Darkness had already set in, but Jesus had not yet come to them.
Then a high wind arose, and the sea began to churn.
After they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea. He was coming near the boat, and they were afraid.
The next day, the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea knew there had been only one boat. They also knew that Jesus had not boarded the boat with His disciples, but that His disciples had gone off alone.
When they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You get here?”
After this, Jesus revealed Himself again to His disciples by the Sea of Tiberias. He revealed Himself in this way:
Therefore the disciple, the one Jesus loved, said to Peter, “It is the Lord!”When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tied his outer garment around him (for he was stripped) and plunged into the sea.
When they heard this, they all raised their voices to God and said, “Master, You are the One who made the heaven, the earth, and the sea, and everything in them.
This man led them out and performed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness 40 years.
He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
Therefore send someone to Joppa and invite Simon here, who is also named Peter. He is lodging in Simon the tanner’s house by the sea.’
“Men! Why are you doing these things? We are men also, with the same nature as you, and we are proclaiming good news to you, that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.
Then the brothers immediately sent Paul away to go to the sea, but Silas and Timothy stayed on there.
So when we had boarded a ship of Adramyttium, we put to sea, intending to sail to ports along the coast of Asia. Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, was with us.
When we had put out to sea from there, we sailed along the northern coast of Cyprus because the winds were against us.
After sailing through the open sea off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we reached Myra in Lycia.
When the fourteenth night came, we were drifting in the Adriatic Sea, and in the middle of the night the sailors thought they were approaching land.
Some sailors tried to escape from the ship; they had let down the skiff into the sea, pretending that they were going to put out anchors from the bow.
When they had eaten enough, they began to lighten the ship by throwing the grain overboard into the sea.
After casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and headed for the beach.
When the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “This man is probably a murderer, and though he has escaped the sea, Justice does not allow him to live!”
But Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:Though the number of Israel’s sonsis like the sand of the sea,only the remnant will be saved;
Now I want you to know, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, all passed through the sea,
and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
Three times I was beaten with rods by the Romans.Once I was stoned by my enemies.Three times I was shipwrecked.I have spent a night and a dayin the open sea.
On frequent journeys, I faceddangers from rivers,dangers from robbers,dangers from my own people,dangers from the Gentiles,dangers in the city,dangers in the open country,dangers on the sea,and dangers among false brothers;
By faith they crossed the Red Sea as though they were on dry land. When the Egyptians attempted to do this, they were drowned.
But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shameful deeds; wandering stars for whom the blackness of darkness is reserved forever!
Something like a sea of glass, similar to crystal, was also before the throne. Four living creatures covered with eyes in front and in back were in the middle and around the throne.
I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them say:Blessing and honor and glory and dominionto the One seated on the throne,and to the Lamb, forever and ever!

The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain ablaze with fire was hurled into the sea. So a third of the sea became blood,
a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
and he had a little scroll opened in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea, his left on the land,
Then the angel that I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven.
He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: “There will no longer be an interval of time,
Now the voice that I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
Therefore rejoice, you heavens,and you who dwell in them!Woe to the earth and the sea,for the Devil has come down to youwith great fury,because he knows he has a short time.
And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea. He had 10 horns and seven heads. On his horns were 10 diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.
He spoke with a loud voice: “Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
I also saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had won the victory over the beast, his image, and the number of his name, were standing on the sea of glass with harps from God.
The second poured out his bowl into the sea. It turned to blood like a dead man’s, and all life in the sea died.
for in a single hoursuch fabulous wealth was destroyed!And every shipmaster, seafarer, the sailors, and all who do business by sea, stood far off
They threw dust on their heads and kept crying out, weeping, and mourning:Woe, woe, the great city,where all those who have ships on the seabecame rich from her wealth,for in a single hour she was destroyed.
Then a mighty angel picked up a stone like a large millstone and threw it into the sea, saying:In this way, Babylon the great citywill be thrown down violentlyand never be found again.
and will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea.
Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead; all were judged according to their works.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea no longer existed.
