'Good' in the Bible
Already now the ax is positioned at the root of the trees; therefore every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
And he went around through all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, by what will it be made salty? It is good for nothing any longer except to be thrown outside [and] trampled under foot by people.
In the [same] way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven, because he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust.
Therefore if you, [although you] are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
In the [same] way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit.
A good tree is not able to produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree to produce good fruit.
Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
And Jesus was going around all the towns and the villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness.
the blind receive sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and the poor have good news announced to [them].
Then to what degree [is] a man worth more than a sheep? So then, it is permitted to do good on the Sabbath."
"Either make the tree good and its fruit [is] good, or make the tree bad and its fruit [is] bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.
Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say good things [when you] are evil? For from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
The good person from his good treasury brings out good [things], and the evil person from his evil treasury brings out evil [things].
But other [seed] fell on the good soil and produced grain, this one a hundred [times as much] and this one sixty and this one thirty.
But what was sown on the good soil--this is the one who hears the word and understands [it], who indeed bears fruit and produces, this one a hundred [times as much], and this one sixty, and this one thirty."
He put before them another parable, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.
So the slaves of the master of the house came [and] said to him, 'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have darnel?'
So he answered [and] said, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,
and the field is the world. And the good seed--these are the sons of the kingdom, but the darnel are the sons of the evil one.
which when it was filled they pulled to shore and sat down [and] collected the good [fish] into containers, but the bad they threw out.
So Peter answered [and] said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good [that] we are here! If you want, I will make here three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
And behold, someone came up to him [and] said, "Teacher, what good [thing] must I do so that I will have eternal life?"
And he said to him, "Why are you asking me about [what is] good? There is one [who is] good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments!"
And those slaves went out into the roads [and] gathered everyone whom they found, both evil and good, and the wedding celebration was filled {with dinner guests}.
His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few [things]; I will put you [in charge] over many [things]. Enter into the joy of your master!'
His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few [things]; I will put you [in charge] over many [things]. Enter into the joy of your master!'
But Jesus, knowing [this], said to them, "Why do you cause trouble for the woman? For she has done a good deed for me.
And he said to them, "Is it permitted on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they were silent.
And other [seed] fell on the good soil, and produced grain, coming up and increasing, and it bore [a crop]--one thirty and one sixty and one a hundred [times as much].
And those are the ones sown on the good soil, who hear the word and receive [it] and bear fruit--one thirty and one sixty and one a hundred [times as much]."
And Peter answered [and] said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good [that] we are here! And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah."
Salt [is] good, but if the salt becomes deprived of its salt content, by what can you make it salty? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another."
And [as] he was setting out on [his] way, one [individual] ran up and knelt down before him [and] asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?"
So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one [is] good except God alone.
But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you cause trouble for her? She has done a good deed to me.
For the poor you always have with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want, but you do not always have me.
And the angel answered [and] said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news.
He has filled those who are hungry with good [things], and those who are rich he has sent away empty-handed.
And the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring good news to you of great joy which will be for all the people:

So with many other exhortations also he proclaimed good news to the people.
"The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed,
But he said to them, "It is necessary [for] me to proclaim the good news [of] the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because I was sent for this [purpose].
And Jesus said to them, "I ask you whether it is permitted on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy [it]?"
"But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what kind of credit is [that] to you? Even the sinners do the same!
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend expecting back nothing, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
Give, and it will be given to you, a good measure--pressed down, shaken, overflowing--they will pour out into your lap. For with the measure by which you measure out, it will be measured out to you in return."

The good person out of the good treasury of his heart brings forth good, and the evil person out of [his] evil [treasury] brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
And he answered [and] said to them, "Go [and] tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear; the dead are raised, the poor have good news announced to [them].
And it happened that {afterward} also he was going about from [one] town and village [to another] preaching and proclaiming the good news concerning the kingdom of God, and the twelve [were] with him,
And other [seed] fell on the good soil, and [when it] came up, it produced a hundred times as much grain." [As he] said these [things], he called out, "The one who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
But the [seed] on the good soil--these are the ones who, [after] hearing the word, hold fast to [it] with a noble and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance.
So they departed [and] went throughout the villages, proclaiming the good news and healing everywhere.
And it happened that as they were going away from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good [for] us to be here. And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah," not knowing what he was saying.
Therefore if you, [although you] are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
"Now salt [is] good, but if salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be made salty?
But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you received your good [things] during your life, and Lazarus likewise bad [things]. But now he is comforted here, but you are suffering pain.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Teacher, [by] doing what will I inherit eternal life?"
And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one [is] good except God alone.
And he said to him, 'Well done, good slave! Because you have been faithful in a very small thing, {have authority} over ten cities.'
And behold, a man {named} Joseph, who was a member of the council, a good and righteous man
And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see!"
and said to him, "{Everyone} serves the good wine first, and whenever they are drunk, the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!"
and they will come out--those who have done good [things] to a resurrection of life, but those who have practiced evil [things] to a resurrection of judgment.
And there was a lot of grumbling concerning him among the crowds; some were saying, "He is a good [man]," but others were saying, "No, but he deceives the crowd."
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
"I am the good shepherd, and I know my [own], and my [own] know me,
Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?"
The Jews answered him, "We are not going to stone you concerning a good deed, but concerning blasphemy, and because you, [although you] are a man, make yourself [to be] God!"
if we are being examined today concerning a good deed [done to] a sick man--by what [means] this man was healed--
Every day, both in the temple [courts] and from house [to house], they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news [that] the Christ [was] Jesus.
So, brothers, select from among you seven men {of good reputation}, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we will put in charge of this need.
Now those who had been scattered went about proclaiming the good news [of] the word.
But when they believed Philip [as he] was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were being baptized.
So [when] they had solemnly testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they turned back toward Jerusalem, and were proclaiming the good news [to] many villages of the Samaritans.
So Philip opened his mouth and beginning from this scripture, proclaimed the good news to him [about] Jesus.
But Philip found himself at Azotus, and [as he] passed through, he proclaimed the good news [to] all the towns until he came to Caesarea.
Now in Joppa there was a certain female disciple {named} Tabitha (which translated means "Dorcas"). She was full of good deeds and charitable giving which she was constantly doing.
[As for] the message that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ--this one is Lord of all--
Jesus of Nazareth--how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, [when they] came to Antioch, began to speak to the Hellenists also, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.
because he was a good man and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large number were added to the Lord.
And we proclaim the good news to you: that the promise that was made to the fathers,
and saying, "Men, why are you doing these [things]? We also are men with the same nature as you, proclaiming the good news [that] you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things [that are] in them--
And yet he did not leave himself without witness [by] doing good, giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying [you] with food and your hearts with gladness."
And [after they] had proclaimed the good news in that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,
And when he had seen the vision, we wanted at once to go away to Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.
And even some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers were conversing with him, and some were saying, "What does this babbler want to say?" But [others said], "He appears to be a proclaimer of foreign deities," because he was proclaiming the good news [about] Jesus and the resurrection.
And looking intently at the Sanhedrin, Paul said, "Men [and] brothers, I have lived my life in all good conscience before God to this day."
to those who, by perseverance in good work, seek glory and honor and immortality, eternal life,
but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and to the Greek.
And [why] not (as we are slandered, and as some affirm that we say), "Let us do evil, in order that good may come [of it]? Their condemnation is just!
And not being weak in faith, he considered his own body as good as dead, [because he] was approximately a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb.
For only rarely will someone die on behalf of a righteous person (for on behalf of a good person possibly someone might even dare to die),
So then, the law [is] holy, and the commandment [is] holy and righteous and good.
