And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth on Him may not perish, but have eternal life. But the publican standing at a distance did not presume so much as to lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Wherefore though God overlooked the times of this ignorance, He now requireth all men every where to repent.
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray to God, if so be the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee:
testifying both to the Jews and Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you: cleanse your hands, O sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be grieved, and mourn, and weep: let your mirth be turned into mourning, and your joy to sadness. Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.
And Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the holy Spirit:
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me both in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore and instruct all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Ghost, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.
But as they believed Philip, preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women;
Then said Peter, Can any one forbid water, that these persons should not be baptized, who have received the holy Spirit, as well as we? And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. And they desired him to stay there some days.
Now it came to pass while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul having passed through the upper parts of Asia came to Ephesus: and finding some disciples there, he said unto them, Have ye received the holy Spirit since ye embraced the faith? And they said unto him, Nay, we had not even heard whether the holy Spirit be yet given. And he said unto them, Into what then were ye baptized? And they said, Into the baptism of John.read more.

Let the same mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
For unto this are ye called; because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye might follow his steps.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father,
He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him.
and if ye keep my commandments ye will continue in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and continue in his love.
And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whosoever keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: and by this we know that we are in Him.read more.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence towards God: and whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch; confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and telling them that through many afflictions we must enter into the kingdom of God.
For to you it is granted as a favor from Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for his sake:
But thou art well acquainted with my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience, persecutions, sufferings, which befel me at Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and how the Lord delivered me out of them all. And indeed all, that are desirous to live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.
But if ye should even suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye: and therefore be not afraid of their menaces, neither be troubled; but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:
Beloved, be not surprised at the fiery trial coming upon you, which is to try you, as if some strange thing befel you: but rejoice in that ye are partakers in the sufferings of Christ; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may also rejoice with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: and though as to them He is blasphemed, yet as to you He is glorified.read more.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as a malefactor, or as an intermeddler with other people's affairs. But if any suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God herein. For the time is coming when judgement is to begin at the house of God: and if at us first, what will be the end of those that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous be saved with difficulty, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them, that suffer according to the will of God, commit their souls in well-doing to Him as to a faithful Creator.
