And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, being full of grace and truth: and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
But I assure you, brethren, that the gospel preached by me is not of human invention. For I neither received it, nor was taught it by man, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. The good thing committed to thee keep, through the Holy Spirit which dwelleth in us.
But I fear least as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the purity that is in Christ. For if he, that cometh to you, preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached; or if ye receive another Spirit which ye have not received, or another gospel which ye have not embraced, ye might indeed bear with him.
I wonder that ye are so soon removed from him who called you by the grace of Christ to another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that disturb you, and would subvert the gospel of Christ. But tho' we or an angel from heaven should preach to you any other gospel than what we have preached to you; let him be accursed.read more.
I say it again, if any one preach to you any other gospel than what ye have received, let him be accursed.
to whom we yielded no submission, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which ye have heard before in the word of truth, that is the gospel; which is come unto you, even as in all the world, and is fruitful; as it hath been also among you, from the day in which ye heard and knew the grace of God in truth.

for which I was appointed a herald and an apostle. I speak the truth in Christ, I lie not; I am a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
If thou lay these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, as one brought up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, to which thou hast attained.
and the things which thou hast heard from me, before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
holding fast the faithful word, according as he hath been taught, that he may be able both to instruct in sound doctrine, and to convince gainsayers.
O Timothy, keep that with which thou art entrusted, avoiding profane empty babblings, and the oppositions of science falsely so called: which some pretending to, have erred from the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
By this ye may know the Spirit of God: every Spirit that confesseth Jesus Christ, who is come in the flesh, is of God: and every spirit that doth not confess Jesus Christ, who is come in the flesh, is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, which ye have heard was coming, and is already in the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one, that loveth Him that begat, loveth Him also that is begotten of Him:
But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come.
even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and shall be in you.
But when the comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, (even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father,) He shall testify of me.
But the unction, which ye have received from Him, abideth in you; and therefore ye have no need that any should teach you: since this very unction teacheth you concerning all things, and is truth and not falshood; even as that hath taught you, abide in Him.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doth evil, hateth the light; and he cometh not to the light, least his deeds should be reproved. But he that acts according to truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
For ye were heretofore darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord:
but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have communion with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Be ye then imitators of me, as I also am of Christ.
For unto this are ye called; because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye might follow his steps.
He that saith, he abideth in Him, ought himself also so to walk even as He walked.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father,
and if ye keep my commandments ye will continue in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and continue in his love.
And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whosoever keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: and by this we know that we are in Him.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble.
What is the advantage, my brethren, if any one say that he has faith, and he hath not works, can faith alone save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food; and one of you say to them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and be ye filled: but ye give them not the necessaries of life, what profit is it to them?read more.
so faith, if it have not works, being alone, is dead. But one may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith by thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Beloved, believe not every Spirit, but try the spirits, whether they be of God: for many false prophets are gone out into the world.
many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name have wrought many miracles? and I will then declare unto them, I never owned you, depart from me, ye workers of iniquity.
And then if any shall say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or, Behold, He is there, believe it not: for there shall rise up false Christs, and false prophets, who shall work signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, even the elect.
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye retain the tradition of men, as the washings of pots and cups, and many other such like things. And ye expressly annul the commandment of God, that ye may retain your own tradition;
But He answered and said unto them, And why do ye transgress the commandment of God for your tradition?
Now the Spirit expressly saith, that in latter times some shall apostatize from the faith, attending to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons founded in the hypocrisy of liars, who are seared in their own conscience, forbidding to marry,
For the time will come, when they will not bear sound doctrine; but having itching ears, will heap up to themselves teachers after their own hearts: and turn away their attention from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
from which some having swerved are turned aside to vain discourses; desiring to be teachers of the law, though they neither understand what they say, nor what things they assert.
These things teach and exhort. If any one teach otherwise, and adhere not to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but is delirious about questions and strifes of words: from which cometh envy, contention, calumnies, wicked suspicions, perverse debates of men corrupted in mind, and void of truth, accounting gain to be godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
For there are many disorderly persons, vain-talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision; whose mouths must be stopped: who subvert whole families, teaching what they ought not, for shameful gain: as said one of themselves, a prophet of their own, "The Cretans are always liars, mischievous beasts, sluggish gluttons."read more.
This testimony is true: for which cause rebuke them sharply, that they may be found in the faith; not attending to Jewish fables, and the precepts of men who turn away from the truth.
But there were indeed false prophets among the people of old, as there will be also among you false teachers, who will privately introduce pernicious heresies, denying even the Lord that bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction, And many will follow their pernicious tenets, on whose account the way of truth will be reproached:
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to the whole law.read more.
Christ is become nothing to you, whosoever of you are seeking to be justified by the law: ye are fallen from the grace of the gospel. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love. Ye did run well: who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion came not from him that called you: but a little leaven leaveneth the whole mass. I have confidence in you however through the Lord, that ye will not think otherwise: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgement, whosoever he be. And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted by the Jews? for then the offence of the cross is ceased. I wish they were even cut off from your communion, that make such disturbance amongst you.
We, who are Jews by birth, and not sinners of the gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore the minister of sin?read more.
God forbid. And if I build again the same things which I demolished, I shew myself a transgressor: for I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ; yet I live, though no longer I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave up himself for me. I do not frustate the grace of God: for if righteousness be by the law, then Christ died in vain.
But avoid prophane empty harangues; for they will proceed to more impiety, and their discourse will eat like a gangrene. Of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus; who have erred from the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and subvert the faith of some.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness: but if we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
