For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

knowing this first, that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking and walking after their own lusts,

knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief by night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a rushing noise, and the first principles of matter in flames dissolve, and the earth and all the works upon it be burnt up.

My loved ones, this is now my second letter to you, and in this as in the first, I am attempting to keep your true minds awake;
